The Spectacled Fulvetta (Fulvetta ruficapilla) is the type species of Fulvetta, an evolutionarily distinct group whose species show a high degree of sympatry in distribution and phenotypic convergence. To pave the way for insights into their adaptive evolution and speciation, we have assembled the first high quality reference genome for F. ruficapilla using high-fidelity (HiFi) long-read and Hi-C sequencing technologies.

Introduction: Although there is a plethora of literature on electrocardiographic changes following cardiac allotransplantation, there is little in the field of cardiac xenotransplantation. The only published literature to date is that of the first pig-to-human cardiac xenotransplantation. Here we take a close look at the electrocardiographic parameters in four non-human primate recipients of orthotopic cardiac xenotransplantation to develop baseline metrics for comparison.

Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer (SCNT) has transformed animal genetic improvement, gene-editing in model production, xenotransplantation, and conservation efforts for endangered species. However, SCNT-derived embryos occasionally display developmental abnormalities, and following embryo transfer, the miscarriage rate is high. Gene-edited fetuses may experience birth defects, resulting in decreased survival rates.

The recent report of the first pig kidney transplant in a living human brings hope to thousands of people with end-stage kidney failure. The scientific community views this early success with caution as kidney xenotransplantation exhibits many challenges and barriers. One of these is coagulation dysregulation.
