Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a hereditary disorder characterized by mutations in the CFTR gene, leading to impaired chloride ion transport and subsequent thickening of mucus in various organs, particularly the lungs. Despite significant progress in CF management, current treatments focus mainly on symptom relief and do not address the underlying genetic defects. Stem cell and gene therapies present promising avenues for tackling CF at its root cause.

Kidney is a classic organ undergoing senescence, and chronic inflammation has an important effect in cellular senescence. Mincle has been shown to be vital for maintaining the M1 phenotype of macrophages, but its role in regulating renal aging has yet to be explored. Young (2 months of age) and old (24 months of age) mice were used to analyze the changes of kidney damage during natural aging.

Approximately 25% of newly diagnosed AML patients display an internal tandem duplication (ITD) in the fms-like tyrosine kinase 3 (FLT3) gene. Although both multi-targeted and FLT3 specific tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) are being utilized for clinical therapy, drug resistance, short remission periods, and high relapse rates are challenges that still need to be tackled. RNA interference (RNAi), mediated by short interfering RNA (siRNA), presents a mechanistically distinct therapeutic platform with the potential of personalization due to its gene sequence-driven mechanism of action.
