Comparing specimens curated in MfN as primary types of Hesperiidae names proposed by Carl Plötz with the original descriptions and unpublished drawings reveals a number of inconsistencies that we address. Lectotypes are designated for Butler, 1877, Plötz, 1881, and Plötz, 1884. Neotypes are designated for Plötz, 1882 and Plötz, 1882. Plötz, 1883 is treated as a . As a result of these designations, the following are junior objective synonyms: Plötz, 1882 of Butler, 1877 and Plötz, 1882 of Möschler, 1879, the latter two names being homonyms. In all these instances, the original descriptions are satisfied, and, except for , the current application of these names is unaffected. Taxonomically, Schaus, 1902, . is a valid species, not a synonym of , which is a junior subjective synonym of (Mabille, 1883).

Background: Cholelithiasis are a condition that creates an economic and medical burden on society, and women are more susceptible to gallbladder stones. However, the effect of smoking on the development of gallstones remains controversial. No studies, to our knowledge, have discussed the association between smoke exposure and gallstones separately in men and women.

Optimizing key parameters for grinding energy efficiency and modeling of particle size distribution in a stirred ball mill.

Fine grinding using a stirred ball mill can enhance ore liberation but incurs high energy consumption, which can be minimized by optimizing operating conditions. This study explores the impact of key operational parameters-grinding time, stirrer tip speed, solid concentration, and feed size-on grinding efficiency, evaluated using specific energy inputs, in stirred milling of Egyptian copper ore. The particle size distribution (PSD) of ground products was simulated using the Gates-Gaudin-Schuhmann model (GGS) and the Rosin-Rammler-Benne (RRB) function.

Identification of N,N-dimethylpentylone (DMP) in counterfeit "Ecstasy" and "Molly" tablets poses risk to public health due to its adverse effects. Little information is available regarding the pharmacological activity or relevant blood or tissue concentrations of DMP, and even less is known about other structurally related beta-keto methylenedioxyamphetamine analogues on recreational drug markets, such as N-propyl butylone. Here, a novel toxicological assay utilizing liquid chromatography-tandem quadrupole mass spectrometry (LC-QQQ-MS) was developed and validated for the quantitation of DMP and five related synthetic cathinones (eutylone, pentylone, N-ethyl pentylone (NEP), N-propyl butylone, and N-cyclohexyl butylone), with chromatographic resolution from isomeric variants and quantitation performed by standard addition.

Cancer diagnosis and therapy cause stress to the body. Preclinical studies have shown that stress hormones can stimulate tumor progression and metastasis by interacting with β-adrenergic receptors, and that β-blockers can inhibit those processes. We assessed if β-blocker use was associated with survival in a nationwide cohort of women with epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC).
