The integration of hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks (HOFs) with flexible electronic technologies offers a promising strategy for monitoring detailed health information, owing to their inherent porosity, excellent biocompatibility, and tunable catalytic capabilities. However, their application in wearable and real-time health monitoring remains largely unexplored, primarily due to the mechanical mismatch between the traditionally fragile HOFs particles and the softness of human skin. Herein, this study demonstrates an epidermal biosensor that maintains reliable sensing capability even under extreme deformation and complex environmental conditions by integrating HOFs films with wavy bioelectrodes. This wearable biosensor demonstrates ultrasensitive detection capabilities, with a limit of detection of 49.64 nM, and accurately measures nutritional content in sweat while conforming to curved skin surfaces. The sensor's performance is comparable to those obtained using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). More strikingly, scratched HOFs films can be regenerated through a simple solvent rinsing process, enabling their reuse in the fabrication of new biosensors and offering a significant advantage over conventional sensing materials. This work has the potential to inspire the development of more flexible electronic devices, leveraging the structural adaptability and diversity of HOFs for personalized healthcare applications and real-time health monitoring.

Photostimulus-responsive fluorescent materials are promising for anticounterfeiting and UV printing due to rapid response and simple preparation. In this paper, we propose a novel strategy to prepare photostimulus-responsive materials SP@HOF-olefin by integrating the photochromic molecule spiropyran (SP) with postsynthetic modified hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks (HOF-olefin). Compared to SP@HOF, the composites SP@HOF-olefin exhibit enhanced photochromic properties, such as a fast response speed, pronounced color contrast, and exceptional fatigue resistance.

Quantum Chemical NMR Spectroscopic Structural Analysis in Solution: The Investigation of 3-Indoleacetic Acid Dimer Formation in Chloroform and DMSO Solution.

January 2025

Laboratório de Química Computacional e Modelagem Molecular (LQC-MM), Departamento de Química Inorgânica, Instituto de Química, Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

We present a DFT-PCM NMR study of 3-indoleacetic acid (3-IAA), used as a working example, including explicit solvent molecules, named PCM-nCHCl, PCM-nDMSO (n = 0, 2, 4, 8, 14, 20, and 25), to investigate the dimer formation in solution. Apart from well-known cyclic (I) and open (II) acetic acid (AA) dimers, two new structures were located on DFT-PCM potential energy surface (PES) for 3-IAA named quasicyclic A (III) and quasicyclic B (IV), the last one having N-H…O hydrogen bond (instead of O-H…O). In addition, four other structures having π-π type interactions named V, VI, VII, and VIII were also obtained completing the sample on the PES.

Five representatives of a novel type of di(hydroperoxy)alkane adducts of phosphine oxides have been synthesized and fully characterized, including their solubility in organic solvents. The phosphine oxide CyPO () has been used in combination with the corresponding aldehydes to create the adducts CyPO·(HOO)CHCH (), CyPO·(HOO)CHCHCH (), CyPO·(HOO)CH(CH)CH (), CyPO·(HOO)CH(CH)CH (), and CyPO·(HOO)CH(CH)CH (). All adducts crystallize easily and contain the peroxide and phosphine oxide hydrogen-bonded in 1:1 ratios.

Stabilization of  Alkyltin γ-Keggin Clusters by 2, 5-Dihydroxyterephthalate Ligands.

China Three Gorges University, Key Laboratory of Inorganic Nonmetallic Crystalline and Energy Conversion Materials, College of Materials and Chemical Engineering, China Three Gorges University, CHINA.

The Keggin clusters are one kind of the most representative molecular structures in the field of metal-oxo clusters. Although the different types of Keggin clusters with various components were reported, the research about γ-Keggin isomer remains less developed. This is ascribed to the difficulty in obtaining the stable pure γ-Keggin cluster for the structural isomerization.
