Purpose: An initial analysis of population-based cancer survival data from Georgia revealed lower CRC survival rates compared to high-income countries. We conducted the study to address this issue and propose strategies for enhancing CRC care.

Patients And Methods: We analyzed CRC statistics, reviewed screening programs, and examined published CRC research in Georgia. Finally, we surveyed 16 oncologists from major institutions all over the country to assess molecular testing, treatment standards, and access to modern medications.

Results: Despite CRC screening being available in Georgia, late diagnoses persist, with over a 1/3 of cases presenting with acute intestinal obstruction. As a result, 65 % of CRC patients are diagnosed at locally advanced or metastatic stages. All 16 oncologists reported limited molecular testing due to costs, with 13 not routinely performing MSI/MMR and NRAS/KRAS/BRAF testing. Consequently, only 15 % of patients receive anti-EGFR therapy. Oxaliplatin-based therapy is almost universally used for metastatic CRC as the first-line treatment. No CRC clinical trials have been conducted in Georgia over the past three years. Treatment for locally advanced rectalcancer typically includes chemoradiotherapy followed by surgery, with notable variation in multidisciplinary team meeting practices.

Conclusions: Study provides several practical recommendations: it is crucial to promote CRC screening programs, enhance access to modern treatment options, and standardize national diagnostic/treatment protocols. There is an urgent need for more clinical trials to increase access to modern therapeutics, as well as to strengthen MDT meetings. These measures are expected to improve CRC care with a further reduction in CRC mortality rates.

Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a rare autoimmune disease characterised by exertion-induced muscle weakness that can lead to potentially life-threatening myasthenic crises. Detectable antibodies are directed against specific postsynaptic structures of the neuromuscular junction. MG is a chronic condition that can be improved through therapies, but to date, not cured.

This study explored the challenges faced by, and resilience of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit women living with HIV in Manitoba and Saskatchewan during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through a decolonizing, community-based research approach, guided by a Community Guiding Circle (CGC), interviews were conducted with 45 Indigenous women living with HIV. Participants were recruited via community outreach, peer networks, and social media.

Context: There are urgent calls to transition society to more sustainable trajectories, at scales ranging from local to global. Landscape sustainability (LS), or the capacity for landscapes to provide equitable access to ecosystem services essential for human wellbeing for both current and future generations, provides an operational approach to monitor these transitions. However, the complexity of landscapes complicates how and what to consider when assessing LS.

Unlabelled: The article is devoted to the study of the existing system of training and certification of forensic experts in Ukraine and to the provision of proposals for its modernization, taking into account the positive experience in the field of forensic science of the USA, UK and some countries of the European Union. In Ukraine, the procedure for the training and certification of forensic experts is determined by ministries and other central executive authorities, which manage state specialized institutions that carry out forensic activities. A study of foreign experience in the training and certification of forensic experts made it possible to identify general and specific elements, sustain the benefits of the implemented measures, and formulate priorities and guidelines.

Background Consanguineous marriages, defined as unions between closely related individuals, are influenced by a complex interplay of cultural, social, economic, religious, and demographic factors. These marriages are prevalent among communities such as Hindus, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Christians, and Parsis in Southern and Western Asia, with significant regional variations within India. There is a lack of appropriate decision-making among women in consanguineous unions, particularly those with a low level of educational attainment, which leads to an increase in the prevalence of consanguineous marriages.
