Background/objective: Medullary thyroid cancer often results in elevated calcitonin levels, which can cause localized formation of calcitonin amyloid, though rarely complications of systemic calcitonin amyloidosis have been reported. The objective of this report is to encourage awareness of calcitonin amyloid causing nephrotic syndrome in patients with metastatic medullary thyroid cancer.
Case Report: A 65-year-old woman with weakness, fatigue, anasarca, anemia, thrombocytopenia, venous and arterial thrombi, and a cavitary right lung lesion was transferred for care.

Background: Adrenal Cushing's syndrome is caused by an adrenal tumor that produces hypercortisolism and requires glucocorticoid supplementation following resection of the tumour to prevent adrenal insufficiency. Few studies have examined whether glucocorticoid replacement (GR) therapy is required after retroperitoneal laparoscopic unilateral adrenal adenoma resection in patients with non-cortisol secreting tumors, or whether there is any correlation between preoperative biochemical indicators and postoperative cortisol function. This study sought to investigate which patients with non-cortisol secreting tumors required GR therapy after undergoing retroperitoneal laparoscopic resection of unilateral adrenal cortical adenoma.

In recent years, advancements in imaging technologies have led to an increased detection rate of adrenal incidentalomas (AI), with age demonstrating a significant correlation with their incidence. Among the various forms of functional adrenal incidentalomas, subclinical hypercortisolism (SH) stands out as a predominant subtype. Despite the absence of typical symptoms associated with Cushing's syndrome, both domestic and international research consistently establishes a robust link between SH and diverse metabolic irregularities, including hypertension, lipid metabolism disorders, glucose metabolism abnormalities, and disruptions in bone metabolism.
