Published: January 2025

Solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) have attracted much attention due to their excellent flexibility, strong interfacial adhesion, and good processibility. However, the poor interfacial contact between the separate solid polymer electrolytes and electrodes leads to large interfacial impedance and, thus, hinders Li transport. In this work, an ionic liquid-modified comb-like crosslinked network composite solid-state electrolyte with an integrated electrolyte/cathode structure is prepared by in situ ultraviolet (UV) photopolymerization. Combining the enhanced interfacial contact and the introduction of ionic liquid, a continuous and fast Li transport channel at the electrolyte-cathode interface is established, ultimately enhancing the overall performance of solid-state lithium batteries. The composite solid electrolytes (CSEs) exhibit an ionic conductivity of 0.44 mS cm at 60 °C. LiFePO//Li cells deliver a high discharge capacity (154 mAh g at 0.5 C) and cycling stability (with a retention rate of more than 80% at 0.5 C after 200 cycles) at 60 °C.

Friction stir spot welding (FSSW) technology relies on the generation of frictional heat during the rotation of the welding tool in contact with the workpiece as well as the stirring effect of the tool pin to produce solid-state spot joints, especially for lightweight materials. Although FSSW offers significant advantages over traditional fusion welding, the oxidation of the interfacial bond line remains one of the most challenging issues, affecting the quality and strength of the joint under both static and cyclic loading conditions. In this experimental study, inert argon gas was employed to surround the joint, aiming to prevent or minimize the formation of the interfacial oxides.

Electronic address:

Shiitake mushroom is popularly consumed thanks to its umami taste and good flavor, but its stipe is often discarded due to the rough texture and poor chewiness. In the study, high-pressure homogenization (HPH) was applied to modify the physiochemical properties of shiitake mushroom nanocellulose (SMNC), and the SMNCs were used to constructing gel-like emulsions (EGs). Atomic force microscope and cryo-scanning electron microscope observations showed that SMNCs had shorter length after HPH treatment.

Dopant-free passivating contact crystalline silicon solar cells hold the potential of higher efficiency and cost down. In the hole-transport terminal, one still faces the challenge of trade-off between efficiency and stability. In this work, a H-AlO/NiO/Ni stacked hole-transport layer is proposed, where the H-AlO standing for H-rich AlO film can effectively reduce the interfacial defects and the high work function Ni metal results in a low contact resistance of 47.
