In this research, we explored the relationship between the AIP and clinical outcomes in patients undergoing PCI. A total of 2533 consecutive patients who underwent PCI were included in this retrospective cohort study, and the data from 2098 patients were used. AIP is calculated based on the log (triglycerides/high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol). MACCEs were defined at 29.8 months as a composite of all-cause mortality, AMI, repeat revascularization and stroke. An analysis of logistic regression proportional hazards was conducted to investigate the association between AIP and the prevalence of MACCEs. This study found that there was an association between MACCEs and age (p < 0.001), heart failure history (p < 0.001), previous AMI (p = 0.013), and diabetes mellitus(p = 0.002), LVEF (p < 0.001), DBP (p = 0.027), creatinine (p = 0.002), UA (p = 0.021), ACEI treatment (p = 0.003), number of diseased vessels, target lesion location, CTO (p < 0.001), stent length (p < 0.001), and stent diameter (p < 0.001). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that AIP was an independent prognostic factor for MACCE in female patients (OR = 2.45, 95%CI = 1.17 ~ 5.11, p = 0.018) but not in male patients. Our findings revealed a significant correlation between AIP and MACCEs in female patients.

Individualized total knee arthroplasty achieves better functional results than off-the-shelf implants in patients undergoing personalized coronal alignment.

Background: Several studies have demonstrated the interest in patient-specific custom cutting guides in total knee arthroplasty (TKA), but clinical improvement remains debated. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the functional outcomes (Forgotten Joint Score, FJS) of patients undergoing individualized TKA compared with those receiving off-the-shelf (OTS) implants, both using patient-specific cutting guides with personalized alignment over a minimum follow up period of 12 months. We hypothesized that individualized TKA demonstrates significantly better functional outcomes than OTS TKA (FJS and percentage of patients reaching the minimum clinically important difference).

Clinical Relevance: Although laser refractive surgeries and multifocal intraocular lens implantation are generally avoided in patients with diabetic retinopathy, a substantial proportion of well-glycaemic-controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus patients are considered for these procedures. Pupil dynamics play a significant role in determining postoperative satisfaction in these patients.

Background: To evaluate pupillary dynamics in patients with and without diabetes following uneventful phacoemulsification surgery.

January 2025

Department of Oral Diagnosis, Piracicaba Dental School University of Campinas, 901, Limeira Avenue Postcode: 13414-903. Piracicaba-SP, Brazil

Background: Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is an aggressive cancer, with prognosis influenced by clinical variables as well grading systems and perineural invasion (PNI), which are associated to poorer outcomes, including higher rates of recurrence and metastasis. This study aims to evaluate OSCC using three grading systems and assess the impact of PNI and clinicopathologic parameters on patient survival.

Material And Methods: Eighty-one primary OSCC samples were analyzed.

Background: Growing evidence suggests a potential link between periodontal disease and the development of atherosclerosis, positioning periodontal disease as a possible risk factor for cardiovascular diseases (CVD). This study aimed to evaluate periodontal status in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) by measuring the Periodontal Inflamed Surface Area (PISA) score in individuals undergoing coronary angiography.

Material And Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 300 patients scheduled for coronary angiography at K.

Background: Sensory disorders of the inferior alveolar nerve, often arising from dental procedures, markedly impact the quality of life of patients. This article proposes a scoping review to analyze emerging trends in pharmacological treatment for these disorders, addressing scientific gaps and clinical practices.

Material And Methods: The review followed the PRISMA-ScR protocol, conducting data searches across various databases, including PubMed and Cochrane, until March 2024.
