: A tracheostomy is a frequently performed surgical intervention in intensive care units (ICUs) for patients requiring prolonged mechanical ventilation. This procedure can offer significant benefits, including reduced sedation requirements, improved patient comfort, and enhanced airway management. However, it is also associated with various risks, and the absence of standardized clinical guidelines complicates its implementation.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to explore the association between pre-injury narcotic drug use (opioids, methadone, and/or oxycodone) and outcomes in isolated severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) patients.
Methods: ACS TQIP study included adult trauma patients (≥ 16 years) with complete drug and alcohol screening. Isolated severe TBI was defined as head trauma with AIS 3-5 and without significant extracranial trauma.

Purpose: In patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI), adequate oxygenation is crucial to optimize survival and neurological outcome. However, supranormal oxygen partial pressure (PaO) only leads to minor increase in cerebral oxygen delivery but can cause numerous pathophysiological disturbances. Therefore, we aimed to study effects of hyperoxia on patient outcome and identify optimum PaO ranges.

Objective: The integration of physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT), and speech therapy (ST) into a triple therapy approach has gained recognition in the rehabilitation of patients. The integration of PT-OT-ST triple therapy with accelerated recovery strategies in pulmonary rehabilitation for elderly mechanically ventilated patients is anticipated to overcome the limitations of traditional rehabilitation approaches.
Methods: By applying stringent inclusion and exclusion criteria, a total of 60 elderly patients over 60 years old requiring mechanical ventilation were selected.
