Article Abstract

The construction of complex molecules under metal-free conditions multiple bond-forming steps in a cascade manner is highly desirable. Herein, we have developed an HFIP-alone promoted aminomethylation and intramolecular cyclization of allenamides, providing biologically relevant tetrahydro-β-carboline derivatives embedded with an allylic amine functionality. The metal-free protocol provided the desired tetrahydro-β-carboline derivatives under mild conditions. The potential of the protocol is further highlighted by the gram-scale reaction and synthesizing derivatives of biologically important molecules.

Background: Cancer stem cells in human tumors have been defined by stem cell markers, embryonal signaling pathways and characteristic biology, ie., namely the ability to repopulate the proliferating population. However, even if these properties can be demonstrated within a tumor cell subpopulation, it does not mean that they are truly hierarchical stem cells because they could have been derived from the proliferating population in a reversible manner.

Claudins (CLDNs) play a crucial and indispensable role as fundamental components within the structure of tight junctions. Due to the distinct and unique distribution pattern exhibited by CLDNs in both normal and malignant tissues, these proteins have garnered significant attention as pivotal targets for systemic anti-cancer therapy and as noteworthy diagnostic markers. This review provides a comprehensive and detailed elucidation of the fundamental understanding surrounding CLDNs, their intricate expression patterns, the potential role they play in cancer diagnosis and therapeutic potentials; all encapsulated within a succinct summary of the cutting-edge advancements and the information derived from various clinical trials.

Choanoflagellate species have been taxonomically divided upon the morphological and developmental basis of their extracellular coat (periplast). Species within the order Craspedida possess a purely organic periplast, whereas taxa of the order Acanthoecida have an additional silica based periplast termed the lorica. Whilst small-scale phylogenetic studies have recovered the two orders as monophyletic, recent phylogenomic analyses have rejected the monophyly of the craspedids.

Mn-doped luminescent materials play a significant role in a variety of fields, including modern lighting, displays, and imaging. Mn exhibits a broad and adjustable emission, hinging on the local environment of the crystal field and the interaction of the 3d electrons. However, it is still a challenge to realize the precise control of the emission of Mn ions due to site-prior occupation in a specific lattice.
