Background: Acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) is a complex clinical syndrome with various aetiologies. If untreated, AFP may lead to death due to failure of respiratory muscles. Tick paralysis, which is a noninfectious neurologic syndrome of AFP, occurs following tick attachment, engorgement, and injection of tick saliva toxins.

Otomastoiditis caused by mycobacterial infections is uncommon and recalcitrant. Its clinical presentations, sometimes similar to those of common chronic suppurative otitis media, make diagnosis difficult. This retrospective study analyzed the clinical features, treatment course, and therapeutic outcomes of patients with mycobacterial otomastoiditis.

Background/aim: IgG4-related disease (IgG4RD) is a rare autoimmune proinflammatory condition that mimics other cancers and has unique pathological findings. The effects of radiotherapy in patients with IgG4RD remain unknown.
Case Report: A male patient in his seventies who received radiotherapy (68 Gy/39 fr) for bladder cancer 5 months prior, presented to our hospital with fatigue and swelling in both legs.

When hypostatic pneumonia is present at the same time as COVID-19 pneumonia, the clinical course is almost always prolonged (prolonged-COVID-19) due to persistent inflammation, long-term anti-inflammatory syndrome, followed by immune exhaustion, i.e., by immunosuppression and catabolic syndrome.
