The Cell-Free Protein Synthesis (CFPS) is an innovative technique used to produce various proteins. It has several advantages, including short expression times, no strain engineering is required, and toxic proteins such as membrane proteins can be produced. However, the most important advantage is that it eliminates the need for a living cell as a production system.

Microplastics (MPs), as an emerging contaminants category, can undergo complex aging in a variety of environmental matrices in which the chemical bonds of polymer molecules can be broken to form free radicals. While the existence of free radicals in aged plastics has been known for over half a century, only recently has significant research on a new type of environmentally risky substance, namely environmentally persistent free radicals (EPFRs), present in aged MPs and their environmental effects, been started, but it is still in its infancy. To address these issues, this work examines EPFR generation on MPs and their environmental effect by reviewing publications from 2012 to 2023.

The valorization of coffee cherry waste through hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) was investigated using various organic and inorganic acid catalysts to produce platform chemicals. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of these catalysts for enhancing reaction rates, improving yields, and promoting selectivity. The results showed that sulfuric acid and adipic acid were the most effective, each resulting in a 20% increase in the total yield, demonstrating the potential of organic acids as efficient catalysts in HTC.

Although humans are highly dependent on plastics from infancy to adolescence, these materials can degrade into ubiquitous microplastics (MPs) that affect individuals at every stage of life. However, information on the sources, mechanisms, detection techniques, and detrimental effects of MPs on children's health from infancy to adolescence is limited. Hence, here we identified and reviewed original research papers published in 2017-2023 across 11 database categories in PubMed, Google Scholar, Scopus, and Web of Science to improve our understanding of MPs with a focus on pediatric well-being.
