In a group of volunteers of different age, engaged in health-improving running for various time, a level of antioxidants and a capacity of vascular wall to synthesize the antiaggregating substances were increased as well as blood coagulation parameters were decreased. These alterations were especially important for men because of the favourable effect of the running on blood rheology and microcirculation as well as on metabolism of cell and tissues.

Objectives: Trauma-induced coagulopathy (TIC) can be fatal but preventable if recognised early. With emerging uses of rotational thromboelastometry (ROTEM) to guide transfusions in trauma, patient outcomes with TIC-defined by initial ROTEM and conventional coagulation tests (CCTs) during massive haemorrhage protocol (MHP) activations were evaluated at a primary trauma centre in British Columbia.

Background: Studies regarding hypercoagulation in Non-Arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy (NAION) patients have produced conflicting results. With a presumption that the early coagulation phase may affect the occurrence of NAION, this study aims to investigate the early coagulation markers, E-selectin and P-selectin, to determine whether these biomolecular changes play a significant role in NAION, thus potentially leading to a better clinical approach.
Methods: A cross-sectional study involving two groups of NAION subjects, a hypercoagulation group and a non-hypercoagulation group, was conducted in the Neuro-Ophthalmology Division, Department of Ophthalmology, FKUI-RSCM Kirana from October 2020 to April 2022.

Atrial fibrillation (AF), impacting nearly 50 million individuals globally, is a major contributor to ischaemic strokes, predominantly originating from the left atrial appendage (LAA). Current clinical scores like CHA₂DS₂-VASc, while useful, provide limited insight into the pro-thrombotic mechanisms of Virchow's triad-blood stasis, endothelial damage, and hypercoagulability. As EVs are known to accumulate in stored blood products, we compared the EV content and coagulation capacity of leukoreduced cold-stored whole blood (CSWB) with current prehospital and in-hospital component therapies to understand the role of EVs in the haemostatic capacity of ageing CSWB.

Deep venous thrombosis (DVT) represents a significant postoperative complication after artificial femoral head replacement, with the incidence increasing proportionally with patient age. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of early postoperative use of intermittent pneumatic compression devices (IPC), followed by the combined use of low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) after 48 hours, for the prevention of postoperative lower limb DVT in elderly patients undergoing hip arthroplasty. The retrospective study included 100 elderly patients who underwent unilateral femoral head replacement.
