Achieving optimal capacitive energy storage performance necessitates the integration of high energy storage density, typical of ferroelectric dielectrics, with the low polarization loss associated with linear dielectrics. However, combining these characteristics in a single dielectric material is challenging due to the inherent contradictions between the spontaneous polarization of ferroelectric dielectrics and the adaptability of linear dielectrics to changes in the electric field. To address this issue, a linear isotactic sulfonylated polynorbornene dielectric characterized by ferroelectric-like crystals has been developed. The sulfonyl dipoles in the ferroelectric-like crystals are oriented in the same direction, thereby enabling this polymer to exhibit a considerable dielectric constant (7.5) at room temperature. Notably, when the operating temperature surpasses the polymer's glass transition temperature (T ≈ 140 °C), its dielectric constant rises to 12 with just minor changes in the dissipation factor. At 150 °C, 90% efficiency of the discharge energy density reaches as high as 6.76 J cm under a low electric field of 320 MV m, which is ten times that of the state-of-the-art, high-temperature, capacitor-grade polyetherimide. The enhancement of high-temperature capacitive performance, achieved by utilizing the crystallinity of isotactic polymers to form a polar structure, presents a new perspective for the design of high-temperature dielectric polymers.

We have conducted a detailed high-pressure (HP) investigation on Eu-doped BaTiO3 using angle-resolved x-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and dielectric permittivity measurements. The x-ray diffraction data analysis shows a pressure-induced structural phase transition from the ambient tetragonal to the mixed cubic and tetragonal phases above 1.4 GPa.

In this work, the dielectric response of polycrystalline BaCoSbO was studied as a function of temperature (30 to 900 °C) and frequency (10 Hz to 10 MHz). The triple perovskite BaCoSbO was successfully synthesized and characterized for structural and dielectric properties. The Rietveld analysis of the X-ray diffractogram confirms the formation of a hexagonal phase with 6/ symmetry.

We have measured the flexophotovoltaic effect of single crystals of halide perovskites MAPbBr_{3} and MAPbI_{3}, as well as the benchmark oxide perovskite SrTiO_{3}. For halide perovskites, the flexophotovoltaic effect is found to be orders of magnitude larger than for SrTiO_{3}, and indeed large enough to induce photovoltages bigger than the band gap. Moreover, we find that in MAPbI_{3} the flexophotovoltaic effect is additional to a native bulk photovoltaic response that is switchable and ferroelectric-like.

The twist-bend nematic (N) phase is a recent addition to the family of nematic (N) phases of liquid crystals (LCs). A net polar order in the Nphase under an external electric field is interesting and it was predicted in several recent theoretical studies. We investigated the field-induced polarization behaviour, dielectric, and electro-optic properties of a bent LC dimer CB7CB in the N and Nphases.
