Purpose: To develop a simple tool to remove retained submacular perfluorocarbon liquid bubbles (R-PFCL) and to inject recombinant tissue plasminogen activator safely in subretinal space in submacular hematomas.
Method: A retrospective, interventional study was performed where a simple homemade micro-viscous fluid control was developed to gain access to subretinal space in a controlled way. The rubber cap of the plunger of a 1-mL syringe was cut; this cut rubber cap of the plunger was fitted inside an empty 1-mL tuberculin syringe, and its end was fitted with the tubings of viscous fluid control of the vitrectomy machine. Now, viscous fluid control mode was activated by attaching a 38-G/41-G subretinal needle for extracting submacular PFCL bubbles (R-PFCL group, n = 12) and to deliver recombinant tissue plasminogen activator injection in significant submacular hematomas cases (submacular hematomas group, n = 32). Best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), fundus photographs, and optical coherence tomography were analyzed. Follow-up was done for at least 6 months.
Results: Vision improved from preoperative mean BCVA logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution 0.99 (20/195) ± 0.27 to postoperative mean BCVA logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution 0.75 (20/112) ± 0.21 (P-value < 0.05) in R-PFCL group and from preoperative mean BCVA logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution 1.99 (20/1954) ± 0.75 to postoperative mean BCVA logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution 0.75 (20/112) ± 0.37 (P-value < 0.001) in submacular hematomas group.
Conclusion: Our homemade micro-viscous fluid control is a safe tool to extract retained submacular PFCL bubbles and to deliver a precise dose of subretinal drugs like recombinant tissue plasminogen activator for a subretinal hematoma in a controlled way.

Bioinspired supramolecular architectonics is attracting increasing interest due to their flexible organization and multifunctionality. However, state-of-the-art bioinspired architectonics generally take place in solvent-based circumstance, thus leading to achieving precise control over the self-assembly remains challenging. Moreover, the intrinsic difficulty of ordering the bio-organic self-assemblies into stable large-scale arrays in the liquid environment for engineering devices severely restricts their extensive applications.

Background And Aim: NK cells and NK-cell-derived cytokines were shown to regulate neutrophil activation in acute lung injury (ALI). However, the extent to which ALI regulates lung tissue-resident NK (trNK) activity and their molecular phenotypic alterations are not well defined. We aimed to assess the impact of 1,25-hydroxy-vitamin-D3 [1,125(OH)D] on ALI clinical outcome in a mouse model and effects on lung trNK cell activations.

Cataracts secondary to type 1 or type 2 diabetes are not uncommon in adults; however, they are a rare finding in pediatric patients with type 1 diabetes. A 15-year-old girl presented with progressively worsened bilateral vision for 6 months. Her vision rapidly deteriorated over the previous month, prompting further evaluation that found bilateral cataracts with haziness in all layers and swollen lenses.

Cystic degeneration (CD) in the liver is a cyst-like lesion composed of one or more pseudocysts lacking lining cells, occurring spontaneously in rats older than 12 months, with a male predilection. In this study, 32 CDs were identified in 23 out of 104 non-treated, control male Sprague-Dawley rats from two combined chronic toxicity and carcinogenicity studies with agrochemicals. They were examined histologically, histochemically, and immunohistochemically to assess the pathogenesis and pathological significance of CD, focusing on pseudocapillarization in aged rat liver.

Introduction: Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) is a condition characterized by ovarian dysfunction occurring before the age of 40, and its etiology is multifactorial, including genetic, immunological, infectious, environmental, and iatrogenic factors, with over half of the cases remaining unexplained. Whether the microbial communities and metabolites in follicular fluid, which is the direct microenvironment for oocyte survival, are related to POI has not been reported.
Methods: In this study, Follicular fluid samples of 26 patients with POI and 27 controls with a normal ovarian reserve were collected and analyzed using 16S rDNA sequencing and untargeted metabolomics.
