Background: Multiplex lateral flow rapid diagnostic tests (LF-RDTs) may aid management of patients with acute non-malarial febrile illness (NMFI) in rural south and southeast Asia. We aimed to evaluate the cost-effectiveness in Cambodia and Bangladesh of a putative, as-yet-undeveloped LF-RDT capable of diagnosing enteric fever and dengue, as well as measuring C-reactive protein (CRP) to guide antibiotic prescription, in primary care patients with acute NMFI.

Methods: A country-specific decision tree model-based cost-effectiveness analysis was conducted from a health system plus limited societal perspective considering the cost of antimicrobial resistance.

Aim: To explore associations between root filled teeth, primary and secondary apical periodontitis, and levels of inflammatory markers in blood from patients with a first myocardial infarction and matched controls.

Methodology: Between May 2010 and February 2014, 805 patients with a first myocardial infarction and 805 controls, matched for sex, age, and postal code area, were recruited to the multicentre case-control study PAROKRANK (periodontitis and its relation to coronary artery disease). All participants underwent a physical and oral examination, as well as blood sampling.

Aims: The aim of this study was to explore the influence and possible mechanisms of pharmacokinetics-related gene polymorphisms, especially CYP2C19 polymorphisms, and non-genetic factors combined with the inflammatory status on the voriconazole (VRC) metabolism of the Chinese population.

Methods: Clinical studies were performed by collecting more than one VRC trough concentration and C-reactive protein (CRP) level. A total of 265 blood samples were collected from 120 patients.

A Systematic Review on Long-Term Efficacy Outcome Measures in Crohn's Disease Patients.

Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Maastricht University Medical Centre+, Maastricht, The Netherlands.

Background: The traditional long-term treatment goal of Crohn's disease [CD] is maintenance of corticosteroid-free clinical remission. Additional treatment targets, such as biochemical, endoscopic and patient-reported remission, are advocated. The relapsing-remitting nature of CD provides a challenge to the timing of target assessment.
