Published: January 2025

Pancreatic panniculitis is a rare dermatological manifestation of pancreatic disorders, characterized by painful, erythematous nodules. We present the case of an 84-year-old woman with acute pancreatitis who developed erythematous-violaceous nodular lesions on her lower limbs. Histopathological examination revealed lobular panniculitis with fat necrosis and ghost adipocytes, confirming the diagnosis. Supportive treatment resulted in complete resolution of the lesions within one week. This case underscores the importance of clinical awareness in identifying pancreatic panniculitis as a potential early indicator of underlying pancreatic disease.

Objective: This research aimed to analyze the impact of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) with acute pancreatitis (AP) on the severity and prognosis of patients, screen the risk factors of HFRS with AP, and establish a nomogram model.

Methods: Data were collected from HFRS patients at the First Affiliated Hospital of Dali University and Dali Prefecture People's Hospital (2013-2023). Patients were divided into HFRS with AP ( = 34) and HFRS without AP groups ( = 356).

Aim: To describe the effects of Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RA) in patients with familial partial lipodystrophy (FPLD) assessed in a real-life setting in a national reference network.

Patients And Methods: We retrospectively collected clinical and metabolic parameters in patients with FPLD in the French lipodystrophy reference network, who initiated GLP-1RA. Data were recorded before, at one-year (12 ± 6 months) and at the latest follow-up on GLP-1RA therapy (≥18 months).

Background: The use of antibiotic therapy in acute pancreatitis remains controversial and is currently recommended only for confirmed infections of peripancreatic necrosis. However, reliable early predictors of septic complications and unfavorable outcomes are substantially lacking.

Methods: Patients with acute pancreatitis were retrospectively reviewed and divided into two groups: one with a septic course defined by pathogen detection [GERM(+)] and one without [GERM(-)].

Recent advances in lineage-tracing technologies have significantly improved our understanding of pancreatic cell biology, particularly in elucidating the ontogeny and regenerative capacity of pancreatic cells. A deeper appreciation of the mechanisms underlying pancreatic cell identity and plasticity holds the potential to inform the development of new therapeutic modalities for conditions such as diabetes and pancreatitis. With this goal in mind, here we summarize advances, challenges, and future directions in tracing pancreatic cell origins and fates using lineage-tracing technologies.
