Linking Long ncRNA to the Diagnosis, Pathogenesis, and Prognosis of Esophageal Cancer.

Dig Dis Sci

January 2025

Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Loyola University Medical Center, 2160 S First Ave, Maywood, IL, 60153, USA.

Esophageal cancer is a common and often deadly malignancy, with treatment success depending largely on the stage at the time of diagnosis. Recently, studies have examined the role of non-coding RNAs in esophageal cancer pathogenesis, prognosis and therapy. This perspective specifically examines interactions long non-coding RNAs have with other RNA molecules in various facets of esophageal cancer.

Interleukin-10 (IL-10) is an immunomodulatory molecule that may play an immunosuppressive role in nonmelanoma skin cancer (NMSC), specifically basal cell carcinoma (BCC). We analyzed the role of IL10 promoter variants in genetic determinants of BCC susceptibility and their association with IL10 mRNA and IL-10 serum levels. Three promoter variants (- 1082 A > G, - 819 T > C, and - 592 A > C) were examined in 250 BCC patients and 250 reference group (RG) individuals.

PRDX2 induces tumor immune evasion by modulating the HDAC3-Galectin-9 axis in lung adenocarcinoma cells.

J Transl Med

January 2025

Joint Research Center for Occupational Medicine and Health of IHM, School of Medicine, Anhui University of Science and Technology, Huainan, Anhui, 232000, China.

Background: PRDX2 is significantly expressed in various cancers and is associated with the proliferation of tumor cells. Nonetheless, the precise mechanism of PRDX2 in tumor immunity remains incompletely understood. This study aims to investigate the impact of PRDX2, which is highly expressed in lung adenocarcinoma, on T cells in the tumor immune microenvironment, and its immune action target to promote the immune escape of lung cancer cells, to provide a theoretical basis for lung adenocarcinoma treatment with PRDX2 as the target.

Molecular architecture of human LYCHOS involved in lysosomal cholesterol signaling.

Nat Struct Mol Biol

January 2025

Key Laboratory of RNA Innovation, Science, and Engineering; Center for Excellence in Molecular Cell Science, Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai, China.

Lysosomal membrane protein LYCHOS (lysosomal cholesterol signaling) translates cholesterol abundance to mammalian target of rapamycin activation. Here we report the 2.11-Å structure of human LYCHOS, revealing a unique fusion architecture comprising a G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR)-like domain and a transporter domain that mediates homodimer assembly.
