Low cure rate and high death rate of cancers have seriously threatened human health. The combining multiple therapies is a promising strategy for cancer treatment. In this study, we construct a novel multinucleated nanocomplex loaded with carbon dots (CDs-SA@TAMn) that responds to tumor microenvironment for combined photothermal/chemodynamic cancer therapy. Fluorescence imaging results show that CDs-SA@TAMn can effectively accumulated in tumor sites. In acidic tumor microenvironment, CDs-SA@TAMn will release Mn2+, activating chemodynamic therapy and producing substantial reactive oxygen species (ROS) to kill tumor. Additionally, when irradiated by an 808 nm laser, CDs-SA@TAMn will exert the photothermal effect to realize high performance of cancer hyperthermia treatment. The nanocomplexes feather simple preparation, low toxicity, controlled release and imaging-guided therapy, showcasing the potential of precise and high performance anti-tumor combination therapy in biomedical applications.

Single-atom catalysts (SACs) with high metal loadings are highly desirable but still challenging for large scale synthesis. Here we report a new technique named as dry-solid-electrochemical synthesis (DSES) for a general large-scale synthesis of SACs with high metal loadings in an energy-conservation and environment-friendly way. With it, a series of pure carbon-supported metal SACs (Platinum up to 35.

The atomic dispersion of nickel in Ni-N-C catalysts is key for the selective generation of carbon monoxide through the electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction reaction (CORR). Herein, the study reports a highly selective, atomically dispersed Ni-N-C catalyst with reduced Ni loading compared to previous reports. Extensive materials characterization fails to detect Ni crystalline phases, reveals the highest concentration of atomically dispersed Ni metal, and confirms the presence of the proposed Ni-N active site at this reduced loading.

Riparian spiders are used in ecotoxicology as sentinels of bioavailable contaminants that are transferred from aquatic to terrestrial habitats via emergent aquatic insects. Spiders in the family Tetragnathidae are particularly of interest because a high proportion of their diet consists of emergent aquatic insects and their contaminant loads reflect the amount transferred through the food web to riparian predators. The transfer of contaminants can be determined through food web tracers such as stable isotopes and polyunsaturated fatty acids; however, it is unclear how contaminants and tracers vary over the course of a year.

Attributable to sulfur's significant theoretical energy density, its affordability, and its environmentally friendly nature, lithium-sulfur batteries (LSBs) are recognized as advanced energy storage technologies with considerable potential. Nonetheless, the solubility and migration of polysulfides within the electrolyte substantially hinder their practical implementation. To address this issue, we developed a nitrogen-doped two-dimensional (2D) wavy carbon nanosheet material (NCN) by using the Pickering emulsion templating method.
