Published: January 2025

This study delves into neutral-type systems (NTSs), emphasizing the critical role of defining precise reachable set (RS) boundaries for safe and efficient system design and operation. The investigation notably addresses the challenges posed by time-varying delays, applying Lyapunov's direct method alongside advanced matrix inequality techniques to identify minimized and more accurate ellipsoidal boundaries of the RS in NTSs influenced by bounded and nonlinear disturbances. Our findings, verified through numerical simulations and comparisons with existing literature, demonstrate enhanced control and management capabilities for complex systems, thus underscoring the substantial theoretical and practical value of incorporating delay elements in NTSs.

The current harvesting arms used in harvesting robots are developed based on standard products. Due to design constraints, they are unable to effectively avoid obstacles while harvesting tomatoes in tight spaces. To enhance the robot's capability in obstacle-avoidance picking of tomato bunches with various postures, this study proposes a geometric parameter optimization method for a 7 degree of freedom (DOF) robotic arm.

In this paper, we improve the dynamic programming based reachable set computation method by replacing the constant size grid in the original method with a variable size grid. With this improvement, the computational time consumption can be significantly reduced while maintaining the accuracy. The proposed method represents the reachable set as a sublevel set of a discount cost-to-go function, which is generated by dynamic programming.

This article proposes model-free reinforcement learning methods for minimum-cost state-flipped control in Boolean control networks (BCNs). We tackle two questions: 1) finding the flipping kernel, namely, the flip set with the smallest cardinality ensuring reachability and 2) deriving optimal policies to minimize the number of flipping actions for reachability based on the obtained flipping kernel. For Question 1), Q-learning's capability in determining reachability is demonstrated.

The channel delay in the game process has an important influence on its evolutionary dynamics. This paper aims to optimize the strategy game with general information delays, including the state delay in the previous work, and the control delay that is introduced for the first time to depict the time consumed by strategy propagation in reality. Specifically, the dynamics of networked evolutionary games is transformed into an algebraic form by use of the newly proposed semi-tensor product of matrices, which extends the ordinary matrix multiplication.
