In cases in which vision cannot be restored and the eye is a source of pain, removal of the eye may be indicated. In mammals, enucleation is the most common procedure performed; however, due to the distinct anatomical features of the avian eye, evisceration may be the preferred method in these species. The large globe size and rigid sclera leave the bird with a large sunken eye socket, which may cause the bird to become unbalanced and is not cosmetically appealing.

Gore-Tex sutures are commonly used for scleral-fixated intraocular lenses (SFIOL) due to their high tensile strength and lower risk of breakage. However, complications such as suture erosion and infection remain a concern. This report presents a case of Gore-Tex suture-associated endophthalmitis in a young patient.

Background: Pregnant women and their unborn children are often overlooked in the opioid crisis, despite increased rates of both maternal complications and neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome. Although medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) are considered the gold standard for pregnant women, many either do not have access to or are not offered MOUD as an option.
Objectives: To describe the characteristics of MOUD care models and assess the effectiveness of MOUD Care Models on initiation, adherence, and engagement in treatment for pregnant women with OUD.

Pilonidal disease is relatively common and can be particularly comorbid for patients, especially in circumstances of chronic abscess or sinus formation. Excision of such disease can require flap reconstruction, one of the most common types being V-Y advancement flap. We present a modification of the V-Y flap that leaves incompletely incised distal edges that theoretically will help to avoid flap tip necrosis while allowing sufficient tissue mobility.
