squamous cell carcinoma is a recently recognized entity characterized by a non-viral-related non-keratinizing squamous cell carcinoma with chromosomal rearrangement between on 6p22.3 and on Xq28. This neoplasm is associated with an aggressive clinical behavior, particularly regarding local recurrences and distant metastases even with its deceptively bland histomorphology. In this article, we report on 2 patients with :: squamous cell carcinomas, which were only diagnosed at the time of recurrence. Patient #1 was originally misdiagnosed with inverted papilloma. This occurred 3 years previously, and at second presentation the tumor was recurrent in the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses. Patient #2 was identified at second recurrence of a "nasopharyngeal carcinoma," initially diagnosed in the nasopharynx 5 years earlier, with a subsequent recurrence in the middle ear 2 years later, involving the mastoid process. The immunophenotypic and molecular work-up, as well as the management of these patients, are discussed. In our review of the English-language literature on :: squamous cell carcinomas, we identified 41 patients, including our 2 patients. Of these, 26 had information on their clinical course. Sixty-nine percent of patients reported a history of locoregional recurrence, and 19% reported a history of distant metastases, with an average follow-up duration of 36 months after multimodality therapies. Given our improved understanding of :: squamous cell carcinoma as an aggressive tumor, it is crucial to differentiate this neoplasm from other potential histomorphologic mimickers to ensure early and accurate diagnosis.

From spermatogenesis to fertilisation: the role of melatonin on ram spermatozoa.

This review presents recent findings on the effect of melatonin on ram spermatozoa. This hormone regulates seasonal reproduction in the ovine species through the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis, but it also exerts direct effects on spermatogenesis, seminal quality and fertility. In the testis, melatonin stimulates blood flow to this organ, but it also appears to be involved in the differentiation of spermatogonial stem cells and the secretion of testosterone through the MT1 and MT2 receptors.

Mast cells, immune sentinels that respond to various stimuli in barrier organs, provide defense by expressing pattern recognition receptors, such as Toll-like receptors (TLRs). They may affect inflammatory responses and wound healing. Here, we investigated the effect of TLR2/6-stimulated mast cells on wound healing in keratinocytes.

Substantial epidemiological evidence suggests a significant correlation between particulate matter 2.5 (PM) and lung cancer. However, the mechanism underlying this association needs to be further elucidated.

Despite substantial advances in the antitumor effects of annonaceous acetogenins (ACGs), the absence of a defined biological action mechanism remains a major barrier to their clinical application. Here, it is found that squamocin effectively depletes both EZH2 and MYC in multiple cancer cell lines, including head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, and gastric and colorectal cancer, demonstrating potent efficacy in suppressing these in vivo tumor models. Through the combination of surface plasmon resonance (SPR), differential scanning fluorimetry (DSF), and cellular thermal shift assay (CETSA), heat shock protein 90α (HSP90α) is identified as the direct binding target of squamocin.

RING finger protein 5 is a key anti-FMDV host factor through inhibition of virion assembly.

Foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) are small, icosahedral viruses that cause serious clinical symptoms in livestock. The FMDV VP1 protein is a key structural component, facilitating virus entry. Here, we find that the E3 ligase RNF5 interacts with VP1 and targets it for degradation through ubiquitination at the lys200 of VP1, ultimately inhibiting virus replication.
