X.X.Bai & F.Wen, a new species of Gesneriaceae in the karst landforms of Xingyi City, Guizhou Province, China, is described and illustrated. Morphologically, the species is similar to on corolla, while it is distinguished from by characteristics of thinner and smaller leaves, shorter peduncles, fewer flowers, smaller corolla, glabrous staminodes, and ovary shorter than style. Molecular phylogenetic analysis based on the combined dataset of 32-L, L-F, B-L, and ITS sequences of the new species and 151 other species of Hance showed that the two populations of clustered into a clade, while it was most closely related to . Following criteria D1 in the IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria, the new species should be assessed as 'vulnerable' (VU).

The southeastern Yunnan is one of the most typical areas in China with karst landforms. The rich variety of vegetation types and plant diversity means that threatened status are also synchronized. Over the past 20 years, the comprehensive conservation team for plant species with extremely small populations (PSESP) has conducted in-depth field surveys in the region, combining relevant literature and conservation projects to compile a list of PSESP which including conservation and endangered status, conservation actions, and scientific research.

Karst small towns globally face challenges due to limited disaster-resilient resources, making it difficult to handle increasingly severe disaster environments. Improving the efficiency of disaster-resilient resource utilization and maintaining a tight balance state of disaster-resilient resources (TBS) are crucial for enhancing disaster adaptability and resilience. This study used urban and disaster data from a representative karst region in China (2017-2021) to conduct a quantitative analysis of TBS in karst small towns, exploring the mechanisms and interactions within this state and identifying obstacle factors.

Increases in sulphate concentrations in natural water bodies can lead to the deterioration of water quality. Human activities, such as coal mining and agricultural fertilisation, can generate sulphate, which can enter water bodies through surface runoff or underground pipelines. Owing to the widespread distribution of coal-bearing strata and an intensification of industrial and agricultural activities, the Pingzhai Reservoir is increasingly at risk of sulphate pollution.
