Fusarium crown rot (FCR) poses a major threat to wheat production in the Huanghuai wheat region of China. This study aims to enhance understanding of pathogen populations causing FCR, focusing on their pathogenicity, trichothecene genotypes, and fungicide resistance. During the 2022-2023 growing seasons, we collected 1820 fungal isolates from 233 locations in this region. Our results identified , , and as the primary pathogens, with exhibiting the highest virulence. Three trichothecene genotypes were identified, including nivalenol, 3-acetyldeoxynivalenol, and 15-acetyldeoxynivalenol. No correlation was observed between trichothecene genotype and virulence, except in . Antifungal assays demonstrated that all six tested fungicides effectively inhibited , with fludioxonil being particularly effective. Field surveys identified isolates resistant to difenoconazole and pyraclostrobin. Laboratory analysis also revealed strains with FpSdhC and FpSdhC mutations conferring resistance to cyclobutrifluram. These findings offer critical insights for developing effective control strategies to manage FCR.

Background: Development of novel chiral antifungal agents for effective control of plant pathogens is urgently needed. In this study, a series of pyrazol-5-yl-benzamide derivatives containing chiral oxazoline moiety were rationally designed and developed based on molecular docking.
Results: The in vitro antifungal assay results indicated that compounds (rac)-4h (R = Et), (S)-4 h (R = S-Et) and (R)-4 h (R = R-Et) exhibited remarkable antifungal activities against Valsa mali with median effective concentration (EC) values of 0.

Background: Fungal plant diseases cause major crop losses. Phytopathogenic fungi's ability to evolve resistance to fungicides, alongside ongoing prohibition of such agents by the European Commission because of their pronounced adverse effects on human health and the environment, make their control a challenge. Moreover, the development of less perilous fungicides is a complex task.

Gray mold is an important disease of crops and is widespread, harmful, difficult to control, and prone to developing fungicide resistance. Screening new fungicides is an important step in controlling this disease. Hydroxychloroquine is an anti-inflammatory and anti-malarial agent, which has shown marked inhibitory activity against many fungi in medicine.

The widespread and excessive agricultural use of azole fungicide tebuconazole poses a major threat to pollinator species including honey bee colonies as highlighted by recent studies. This issue is of growing importance, due to the intensification of modern agriculture and the increasing amount of the applied chemicals, serving as a major and recent problem from both an ecotoxicological and an agricultural point of view. The present study aims to detect the effects of acute sublethal tebuconazole exposure focusing on the redox homeostasis of honey bee flight muscles.
