Background: This study examines the elements of efficiency and coherent development in passive defense among healthcare managers for disaster management in Iran.

Materials And Methods: The study employs a qualitative method using conventional content analysis from 2021 to 2023. A purposive sample of 25 healthcare managers with experience in passive defense is selected. Data are collected through unstructured interviews and analyzed using conventional content analysis.

Result: The participants' experiences regarding the coherent efficiency development of passive defense are categorized into three main themes, namely, enhancing emergency knowledge empathic and responsible cohesion, management development planning and resources, and individual updating and flexibility.

Conclusion: The role of passive defense is very decisive in crisis management through the strategy of efficiency and coherent development. This strategy is implemented using the concepts of enhancing disaster knowledge, empathic and responsible cohesion, management development planning and resources, and individual updating and flexibility.

Pitting corrosion caused by sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) significantly shortens the lifespan of metallic pipelines. Antibacterial coatings containing S-responsive drug-loaded nanocontainers represent a promising method to mitigate SRB corrosion. However, the challenge of balancing rapid bactericide release with continuous antibacterial effect limits their practical application.

Recent studies suggest that calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) neurons in the parabrachial nucleus (PBN) represent aversive information and signal a general alarm to the forebrain. If CGRP neurons serve as a true general alarm, their activation would modulate both passive nad active defensive behaviors depending on the magnitude and context of the threat. However, most prior research has focused on the role of CGRP neurons in passive freezing responses, with limited exploration of their involvement in active defensive behaviors.

January 2025

School of Mechanical Engineering, Korea University, 145 Anam-Ro, Seongbuk-Gu, Seoul, 02841, Republic of Korea.

Passive temperature controls like passive daytime radiative cooling (PDRC)-heating (PDRH), and thermal insulation are essential to meet the growing demand for energy-efficient thermal solutions. When combined with advanced functions like electromagnetic interference shielding, these technologies can significantly enhance scalability. However, existing approaches using single thin films or uniform porous materials face inherent limitations in optimizing versatile functions, while lightweight, insulating aerogels can extend their multifunctionality by manipulating pores and fillers.
