The white rot fungus was investigated for its ability to decolorize the reactive textile dye Reactive Black 5 (RB5) that was co-exposed to CdCl and quantum dots (QDs) consisting of a CdTe core capped with two different hydrophilic organic ligands (NAC and MPA). Without co-exposure, completely decolorizes RB5 within 9 days. The highest inhibitory effect was found for soluble CdCl with an EC of 583 μg l, followed by MPA-QDs (10,628 μg l) and NAC-QDs (17,575 μg l). The different EC values indicate that the nanoparticle coatings have a strong influence on the inhibitory effects, as the organic ligands used for surface passivation prevented the leaching of acute toxic Cd ions from the metallic QD core. Compared to CdCl, the CdTe QDs were less inhibitory to the formation of fungal metabolites and their decolorization ability on co-exposed textile dyes. In addition, the literature comparison suggests that is more resilient to cadmium than other microorganisms. The fungus could therefore be used for bioremediation applications of dye- or QD-contaminated wastewater from the textile or semiconductor industries.

Lung cancer represents a significant global health burden, with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) being the most common subtype. The current standard of care for NSCLC has limited efficacy, highlighting the necessity for innovative treatment options. Lidocaine, traditionally recognized as a local anesthetic, has emerged as a compound with potential antitumor and anti-inflammatory capabilities.

Background: Exogenous Cushing's syndrome, which results from prolonged glucocorticoid treatment, is associated with metabolic abnormalities. Previously, we reported the inhibitory effect of tonsil-derived mesenchymal stem cell conditioned medium (T-MSC CM) on glucocorticoid signal transduction. In this study, we investigated the therapeutic efficacy of T-MSCs in a mouse model of exogenous Cushing's syndrome.

The urgent need to address the growing problem of antimicrobial resistance in multidrug-resistant bacteria requires the development of pioneering approaches to treatment. The present study aims to evaluate the antimicrobial potential of the essential oils (EOs) of Moringa oleifera (moringa), Cinnamomum verum (cinnamon), and Nigella sativa (black seed) and the synergistic effect of the mixture of these oils against Staphylococcus aureus MCC 1351. Statistical modeling revealed cinnamon oil had the highest individual antimicrobial potency, followed by black seed oil.
