Stretchable electromagnetic interference (EMI) shields with strain-insensitive EMI shielding and Joule heating performances are highly desirable to be integrated with wearable electronics. To explore the possibility of applying geometric design in elastomeric liquid metal (LM) composites and fully investigate the influence of LM geometry on stretchable EMI shielding and Joule heating, multifunctional wrinkle-structured LM/Ecoflex sandwich films with excellent stretchability are developed. The denser LM wrinkle enables not only better electrical conduction, higher shielding effectiveness (SE) and steady-state temperature, but also enhanced strain-stable far-field/near-field shielding performance and Joule-heating capability. More strikingly, compared to most previously reported stretchable EMI shields or electric heaters, the densely wrinkled film could achieve multidirectional strain-insensitive shielding behavior with slightly strain-enhanced or strain-invariant EMI SE under stretching parallel or perpendicular to the electric field of EM waves, as well as show ideal strain-insensitive Joule-heating behavior over a larger strain range of 250%. The current findings suggest an effective strategy for developing stretchable LM-based composites with strain-insensitive properties.

Although materials with infrared camouflage capabilities are increasingly being produced, few applications exist in clothing fabrics. Here, graphene/MXene-modified fabric with superior infrared camouflage, Joule heating, and electromagnetic shielding capabilities all in one was prepared by simply scraping a graphene slurry onto alkali-treated cotton fabrics, followed by spraying MXene. The functionality of the modified fabrics after different treatment times was then tested and analyzed.

High-performance green functional materials have garnered significant interest for electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding applications, but creating customized, low-density, high-strength and high-efficiency biomass-based shielding materials remains challenging. In this study, lightweight Ca doped sodium alginate (SA) porous scaffolds with a carbon nanotube (CNT)/graphene (Gr) hybrid conductive network were fabricated via direct ink writing (DIW) 3D printing. The SA/CNT/Gr inks with unique rheological properties were formulated and architectures with arbitrarily customized structures could be freely constructed based on the printable inks.

As modern communication and detection technologies advance at a swift pace, multifunctional electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding materials with active/positive infrared stealth, hydrophobicity, and electric-thermal conversion ability have received extensive attention. Meeting the aforesaid requirements simultaneously remains a huge challenge. In this research, the melamine foam (MF)/polypyrrole (PPy) nanowire arrays (MF@PPy) were fabricated via one-step electrochemical polymerization.

The design of multifunctional, high-performance wearable heaters utilizing textile substrates has garnered increasing attention, particularly in the development of body temperature and health monitoring devices. However, fabricating these multifunctional wearable heaters while simultaneously ensuring flexibility, air permeability, Joule heating performance, electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding and antibacterial properties remains a significant challenge. This study utilizes phase transition lysozyme (PTL) film-mediated electroless deposition (ELD) technology to deposit silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) on the cotton fabrics surface in a mild aqueous solution at room temperature, thereby constructing a wearable heater with long-term stability, high conductivity, and exceptional photothermal properties.
