The increasing prevalence of kidney failure highlights the crucial need for effective patient-physician communication to improve health-related quality of life and ensure adherence to treatment plans. This narrative review evaluates communication practices in the context of advanced kidney disease, focusing on the frameworks of shared decision-making, advanced care planning, and communication skills training among nephrologists. Purpose: To evaluate whether adult and pediatric trauma center status, as well as the presence of dedicated child protection teams, influences radiology resident performance in detecting non-accidental trauma on the Emergent/Critical Care Imaging Simulation (WIDI SIM) exam.
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 639 WIDI SIM exam scores for four pediatric non-accidental trauma cases completed by radiology residents across 33 programs. Residents were stratified by level (R1-R4) and institutional factors, including adult trauma center status, pediatric trauma center status, and child protection team presence.
Introduction: This paper developed and used practice vignettes to understand sexual assault nurse examiners' perceptions of self-confidence to provide care for Black, Indigenous, and transgender sexual violence survivors. Sexual assault nurse examiners are uniquely positioned to provide patient-centered postsexual violence health care but not all sexual assault nurse examiners receive culturally specific and identity-affirming training. Black/African American, Indigenous, and/or transgender people disproportionately experience sexual violence but may receive poorer health care after sexual violence compared with white cisgender people.
