Deep oil reservoirs are becoming increasingly significant fields of hydrocarbon exploration in recent decades. Hydrothermal fluid flow is deemed as a potentially crucial factor affecting the occurrence of deep oil reservoirs, such as enhancing porosity/permeability of reservoirs, accelerating oil generation and thermal cracking, and modifying organic properties of crude oils. Understanding the interplay between hydrothermal fluids and crude oils would provide useful constraints for reconstructing hydrocarbon accumulation processes and predicting the distribution patterns of crude oils.

Sample preparation using deep eutectic solvents in combination with nanomaterials in analytical procedures: A review.

Anal Chim Acta

February 2025

School of Pharmacy, Sungkyunkwan University, Suwon, Gyeonggi-do, 16419, Republic of Korea. Electronic address:

Background: Sample preparation can be a critical stage of analytical procedures that profoundly influences their performance, environmental impact, and overall efficiency. While nanomaterials have revolutionized sample preparation owing to their high surface area-to-volume ratios, tunable surface chemistry, and enhanced adsorption capacities, limitations persist. Researchers have ushered in a new era of efficient sample preparation methodologies that could overcome the limitations of nanomaterials by introducing deep eutectic solvents (DESs), which have unique advantages such as low volatility and toxicity, biodegradability, and tunability.

Nitric oxide release as a defense mechanism in marine microalgae against microplastic-induced stress.

Environ Pollut

January 2025

Frontiers Science Center for Deep Ocean Multispheres and Earth System, Key Laboratory of Marine Chemistry Theory and Technology, Ministry of Education, College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Ocean University of China, Qingdao 266100, China; Laboratory for Marine Ecology and Environmental Science, Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology, Qingdao 266237, China.

Nitric oxide (NO) has garnered significant attention as a critical regulatory factor and signaling molecule in plant growth. However, the effects of microplastic pollution on the release of NO by algae have not been reported. Thus, in this study, the release of NO by Skeletonema costatum and Gymnodinium sp.

UniAMP: enhancing AMP prediction using deep neural networks with inferred information of peptides.

BMC Bioinformatics

January 2025

College of Artificial Intelligence, Nanjing Agricultural University, Weigang No.1, Nanjing, 210095, Jiangsu, China.

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) have been widely recognized as a promising solution to combat antimicrobial resistance of microorganisms due to the increasing abuse of antibiotics in medicine and agriculture around the globe. In this study, we propose UniAMP, a systematic prediction framework for discovering AMPs. We observe that feature vectors used in various existing studies constructed from peptide information, such as sequence, composition, and structure, can be augmented and even replaced by information inferred by deep learning models.

Article Synopsis
  • Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women globally, and this study introduces a deep learning framework to predict molecular subtypes in HPV-positive cervical squamous cell carcinoma using histology slides.
  • The research analyzed three cohorts with 545 patients, demonstrating that the Digital-CMS scores can effectively predict both disease-specific and disease-free survival outcomes.
  • Furthermore, the study found significant differences in the tumor microenvironment between subtypes, highlighting potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets that could guide clinical applications for better patient management.
