Unlabelled: In many frankia, the ability to nodulate host plants (Nod+) and fix nitrogen (Fix+) is a common strategy. However, some frankia within the genus lack one or two of these traits. This phenomenon has been consistently observed across various actinorhizal nodule isolates, displaying Nod- and/or Fix- phenotypes.

Unravelling the removal mechanisms of trivalent arsenic by sulfidated nanoscale zero-valent iron: The crucial role of reactive oxygen species and the multiple effects of citric acid.

Electronic address:

The remediation of arsenic-contaminated groundwater by sulfidated nanoscale zero-valent iron (S-nZVI) has raised considerable attention. However, the role of trivalent arsenic (As(III)) oxidation by S-nZVI in oxic conditions (S-nZVI/O) remains controversial, and the comprehensive effect of citric acid (CA) prevalent in groundwater on As(III) removal by S-nZVI remains unclear. Herein, the mechanisms of reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and multiple effects of CA on As(III) removal by S-nZVI/O were systematically explored.

Unraveling the neglected role of elemental sulfur in chromate removal by sulfidated microscale zero-valent iron.

Elemental sulfur (S), as an oxidation product of low-valent sulfur, is widely believed to inhibit the reactivity of sulfidated zero-valent iron (S-ZVI). However, this study found that the Cr(VI) removal and recyclability of S-ZVI with S as the dominant sulfur species were superior to those FeS or iron polysulfides (FeS, x > 1) dominated ones. The more S directly mixed with ZVI, the better Cr(VI) removal obtained.

Altering Chain Flexibility of Aliphatic Polyesters for Yellow-Green Clusteroluminescence in 38 % Quantum Yield.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

Shenzhen Institute of Aggregate Science and Technology, School of Science and Engineering, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, 518172, China.

Preparation of non-conjugated polymers with long-wavelength emission and high quantum yield (QY) is still a huge challenge. Herein, we report the first example of linear non-conjugated polyester exhibiting yellow-green clusteroluminescence (CL) and a high QY of 38 %. We discovered that the polyester P3 with balanced flexibility and rigidity showed the longest CL wavelength and highest QY.
