The subsuperior segment (S∗), as an atypical pulmonary segment, is located between the superior and posterior basal segments. Many thoracic surgeons have no experience with anatomical segmental resection of S∗. We present a case of the posterior approach of left S∗ segmentectomy. The total operating time was 110 minutes, and the blood loss was 10 mL. The patient was discharged smoothly on postoperative day 3.
