Least-squares tensor hypercontraction (LS-THC) has received some attention in recent years as an approach to reduce the significant computational costs of wave function-based methods in quantum chemistry. However, previous work has demonstrated that LS-THC factorization performs disproportionately worse in the description of wave function components (e.g., cluster amplitudes ) than Hamiltonian components (e.g., electron repulsion integrals (|)). This work develops novel theoretical methods to study the source of these errors in the context of the real-space kernel, and reports, for the first time, the existence of a "correlation feature" in the errors of the LS-THC representation of the "exchange-like" correlation energy and that is remarkably consistent across ten molecular species, three correlated wave functions, and four basis sets. This correlation feature portends the existence of a "pair point kernel" missing in the usual LS-THC representation of the wave function, which critically depends upon pairs of grid points situated close to atoms and with interpair distances between one and two Bohr radii. These findings point the way for future LS-THC developments to address these shortcomings.

Emerging single cell technologies that simultaneously capture long-range interactions of genomic loci together with their DNA methylation levels are advancing our understanding of three-dimensional genome structure and its interplay with the epigenome at the single cell level. While methods to analyze data from single cell high throughput chromatin conformation capture (scHi-C) experiments are maturing, methods that can jointly analyze multiple single cell modalities with scHi-C data are lacking. Here, we introduce Muscle, a semi-nonnegative joint decomposition of Multiple single cell tensors, to jointly analyze 3D conformation and DNA methylation data at the single cell level.

Background: In the inflammatory process of multiple sclerosis (MS) several toxic waste products are generated. The clearance of these products might depend on the glymphatic system; however, it's preserved function in MS is uncertain. Recently, it was suggested that this 'waste clearance' system can be examined by measuring the diffusion along the perivascular space (ALPS) index.

Cardiac diffusion tensor imaging (cDTI) is highly prone to image corruption, yet robust-fitting methods are rarely used. Single voxel outlier detection (SVOD) can overlook corruptions that are visually obvious, perhaps causing reluctance to replace whole-image shot-rejection (SR) despite its own deficiencies. SVOD's deficiencies may be relatively unimportant: corrupted signals that are not statistical outliers may not be detrimental.

Aiming at the magnetic seal in an aero-engine accessory, the range of magnetic force required for the normal operation of the magnetic seal is analyzed. The finite element analysis method based on the Maxwell stress tensor method is used to calculate the magnetic force between the dynamic ring and the magnetic static ring in the magnetic sealing system. The magnetic force under different magnetization modes and gaps is tested by the magnetic measuring test bench, which verifies the correctness of the magnetic calculation method.
