The preparation of organochalcogens has increased in recent times due to their promising biological activity properties. This work studies the reaction mechanism of a nickel(0)-catalyzed cross-coupling between benzonitrile and propanethiol to produce new C-S bonds by computational means. The proposed mechanism follows the classical oxidative addition/transmetalation/reductive elimination cross-coupling sequence, involving an unusual oxidative addition of a Ph-CN bond onto the active species. The computed catalytic cycle for thioether synthesis has been examined to determine whether the same protocol could be employed to build the analogous C-Se and C-Te bonds. The proposed mechanism for C-S coupling is validated by microkinetic modeling and shows a very good agreement with available experimental data. The extension of the proposed mechanism to C-Se and C-Te couplings indicates that these new reactions should be operative, although their reaction rates appear to be significantly slower.

Self-regulated learning (SRL) has been regarded as one of the indispensable factors affecting students' academic success in online learning environments. However, the current understanding of the mechanism/causes of SRL in online ill-structured problem-solving remains insufficient. This study, therefore, examines the configural causal effects of goal attributes, motivational beliefs, creativity, and grit on self-regulated learning.

The short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) propionate and butyrate have beneficial health effects, are produced in large amounts by microbial metabolism and have been identified as unique acyl lysine histone marks. To better understand the function of these modifications, we used chromatin immunoprecipitation followed by sequencing to map the genome-wide location of four short-chain acyl histone marks, H3K18pr, H3K18bu, H4K12pr and H4K12bu, in treated and untreated colorectal cancer (CRC) and normal cells as well as in mouse intestines in vivo. We correlate these marks with open chromatin regions and gene expression to access the function of the target regions.

Hematology patients require central venous catheters for cancer treatment and nutrition, which increases their risk of intravascular device-associated bacteremia. In the absence of recent data, we investigated intravascular device-associated bacteremia in this specific context. A three-month surveillance was conducted annually in 27 hematology wards, using a protocol derived from the HAI-Net ICU ECDC protocol (2020-2024).

This paper is devoted to the investigation of the plasmonic effect of metal nanoparticles (NPs) formed on the surface of the YAG: Bi, Ce, Yb phosphors in a temperature range between 4 and 300 K. Combination of a thin conversion layer with silver plasmonic nanostructures leads to increase of sensitizer absorption and emission efficiency. Enhancement of Bi luminescence in YAG epitaxial films with Ag NPs was observed upon cooling the samples below 200 K.

Postoperative fever following neuroendoscopic procedures has been well-documented, yet specific differentiation based on the nature and site of the procedure remains lacking. Given the anatomical involvement of the hypothalamus in temperature regulation, we propose that endoscopic third ventriculostomy (ETV) may have a distinct impact on postoperative fever. This study aims to investigate this phenomenon.
