Herein, we report the influence of solvent on the self-assembly of a dinuclear helicate, (NMe)[Eu(LR)]. A multiple species mixture with the chemical composition of [Eu(LR)] present in CHCN can be transformed into a helicate upon increasing the content of CHCl, accompanied by a significant enhancement in circularly polarized luminescence activity.

Herein, we report the reaction between four 1,2-dibromoxylenes and two tetra-3-pyridylporphyrins for the formation of a cofacial porphyrin core spanned by dipyridinium xylene moieties. The metal-free organic nanocage (oNC) was synthesized in one twenty-four h step at a gram-scale with a 91.5% yield.

Synthesis of interlocked supramolecular cages has been a growing field of interest due to their structural diversity. Herein, we report the template-free synthesis of a Ru(II) triply interlocked [2] catenane using coordination-driven self-assembly. The self-assembly of a triazine-based tripyridyl donor (2,4,6-tris(5-(pyridin-4-yl)thiophen-3-yl)-1,3,5-triazine) with a dinuclear Ru(II) acceptor (Ru(dhnq)(η--cymene))(CFSO)) yielded two distinct structures depending on the solvent and concentration.

Owing to the unique synergistic effect, dinuclear-metal-molecule-catalysts (DMCs) show excellent performance in catalytic fields. However, for overall photocatalytic CO reaction (CORR), it is still a challenge to construct well-matched photosensitizer (PS) components for DMCs-based photocatalysts. Inorganic-quantum-dot PS possesses capacities of multiple exciton generation and catalyzing water oxidation but is incompatible with DMCs.

We synthesized a planar macrocyclic dinuclear nickel(II) metallohost from the corresponding macrocyclic imine ligand containing two NO chelate coordination sites and an O cation binding site like 18-crown-6 as well as peripheral hexyl groups. Due to the lipophilic nature of the hexyl groups, the metallohost was soluble in less polar media where its interaction with alkali metal ions was enhanced. The binding studies by NMR spectroscopy clearly showed its strong tendency to form multi-layered structures.
