In this article, we examine the pros and cons of textbook vs. journal articles. We suggest that textbooks serve as an essential knowledge provider for colleagues, especially at their entry level, but to advance clinical and academic capability, journal articles remain an important and unreplaceable tool for continuous professional development. Currently multi-author review articles provide one of the best sources of information, providing recommendations that are authoritative yet balanced. We explored if there are options to combine the best of both these platforms of information.

The high morbidity and mortality of colorectal cancer (CRC) is a major challenge in clinical practice. Although a series of alternative research models of CRC have been developed, appropriate orthotopic animal models that reproduce the specific clinical response as well as pathophysiological immune features of CRC are still lacking. In the current study, we constructed a CRC orthotopic xenograft model by implanting the tumor tubes at the colorectum of mice and monitored the model development using bioluminescence imaging.

Aim: Snakes exhibit remarkable physiological shifts when their large meals induce robust postprandial growth after prolonged fasting. To understand the regulatory mechanisms underlying this rapid metabolic transition, we examined the regulation of protein synthesis in pythons, focusing on processes driving early postprandial tissue remodeling and growth.
Methods: Using the SUnSET method with puromycin labeling, we measured in vivo protein synthesis in fasting and digesting snakes at multiple post-feeding intervals.
