Gualou Guizhi Granule inhibits microglia-mediated neuroinflammation to protect against neuronal apoptosis and .

Institute of Structural Pharmacology and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Chemical Biology, Fujian Key Laboratory of Chinese Materia Medica, College of Pharmacy, Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Fuzhou, China.

Object: Neuroinflammation mediated by microglia has emerged as a critical factor in ischemic stroke and neuronal damage. Gualou Guizhi Granule (GLGZG) has been shown to suppress inflammation in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-activated microglia, though the underlying mechanisms and its protective effects against neuronal apoptosis remain unclear. This study aims to investigate how GLGZG regulates the Notch signaling pathway in microglia to reduce neuroinflammation and protect neurons from apoptosis.

The effect of thermoelectric craniocerebral cooling device on protecting brain functions in post-cardiac arrest syndrome.

Front Cardiovasc Med

January 2025

Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimation, Faculty of Medicine, Bezmialem Vakif University, Istanbul, Türkiye.

Aim: This study aimed to protect brain functions in patients who experienced in-hospital cardiac arrest through the application of local cerebral hypothermia. By utilizing a specialized thermal hypothermia device, this approach sought to mitigate ischemic brain injury associated with post-cardiac arrest syndrome, enhance survival rates, and improve neurological outcomes as measured by standardized scales.

Methods: A prospective, single-center cohort study was conducted involving patients aged ≥18 years who experienced in-hospital cardiac arrest and achieved return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC).

Metformin carbon dots enhance neurogenesis and neuroprotection in Alzheimer's disease: A potential nanomedicine approach.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by progressive cognitive decline due to neuronal damage and impaired neurogenesis. Preserving neuronal integrity and stimulating neurogenesis are promising therapeutic strategies to combat AD-related cognitive dysfunction. In this study, we synthesized metformin carbon dots (CMCDs) using a hydrothermal method with metformin hydrochloride and citric acid as precursors.

The present study aim to investigate the effects of three drying processes on the flavor-related compounds and sensory quality of summer black tea. A total of 234 flavonoids and 1200 volatile compounds were identified in tea samples by using UPLC-MS/MS and HS-SPME-GC-MS, respectively. It was found that the combining hot-air and roasting drying process increased the level of epigallocatechin, epicatechin, gallic acid, theaflavins, and umami and sweet amino acids in tea samples.

Electronic address:

Ergothioneine (EGT) is a natural dietary antioxidant derived from certain edible mushrooms, commonly used as a food additive and supplement, but its effects on Parkinson's Disease (PD) are still unclear. The accumulation of α-synuclein (α-syn) plays a pivotal role in the pathogenesis and development of PD. Here, this study demonstrated that EGT effectively inhibits α-syn aggregation, disrupts mature fibers, and reduces associated cytotoxicity and oxidative stress.
