Avermectins (AVMs) and their derivatives are the most effective and widely used nematicides, insecticides, and acaricides against endo- and ectoparasites of plants, animals, and humans. Demand for avermectins and their highly effective derivatives has increased due to their high cost-effectiveness and wide range of applications as medicines and crop protection products. Due to the unique structures of these compounds and for industrial production purposes, numerous efforts and strategies have been dedicated to enhancing the production of avermectins and creating new analogues in recent years. Here, we have systemically reviewed the recent studies on the biosynthesis and application of avermectins and their derivatives, including avermectin metabolism and its related bioregulation in , approaches for enhancing the bioproduction of avermectins, the structure and toxicology of avermectin derivatives, and future prospects, with a focus on the recent advances in biosynthesis and significance of the superior avermectin derivatives.

Cholangiocarcinoma is a malignant tumor that emerges in the intrahepatic or extrahepatic bile ducts. Doramectin (DOR), a third-generation derivative of avermectins (AVMs), is renowned for its low toxicity and high efficiency. However, no research has hitherto focused on the anti-cholangiocarcinoma effects of these drugs.

Background: The salmon louse (Lepeophtheirus salmonis) is a parasite of wild and farmed salmonid fish, causing huge economic damage to the commercial farming of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) in the northern hemisphere. The avermectin emamectin benzoate (EMB) is widely used for salmon delousing. While resistance to EMB is widespread in Atlantic populations of L.

Intelligent controlled-release nanopesticides have been a crucial tactic in advanced precision agriculture during the past few years, which can improve pesticide utilization and reduce environmental pollution. Herein, a novel hydroxypropyl methylcellulose-based nanopesticide carrier (PCH) with pH-/enzyme-/near-infrared multiple responses was constructed by the initial cross-linking with dimethyl diallyl ammonium chloride and the subsequent copper ion chelation and polydopamine coating. Avermectin (Av) was further loaded to create the intelligent pesticide release system (APCH) by antisolvent precipitation.

Acute, uncontrolled and/or long-lasting inflammation causes a breakdown in immunological tolerance, leading to chronicity and contributing to a series of significant local or systemic tissue changes. Anti-inflammatory efficacy, fewer adverse effects, improved selectivity, and curative action are imminent issues for patients suffering from chronic inflammation-related pathologies. Then, we performed a complete and critical review about anthelmintics, discussing the main classes and the available preclinical evidence on repurposing to treat inflammation-based conditions.
