Emamectin benzoate (EB) is a highly effective broad-spectrum insecticide and acaricide. However, because EB is easily degraded, the conventional formulations of EB are often overapplied. In this study, polylactic acid (PLA)-based microspheres were prepared using the modified solvent evaporation method for the controlled release of EB. The microspheres were optimized to achieve higher EB loading. The effects of process parameters on the properties of microspheres, including encapsulation efficiency (EE), particle size, and pesticide loading, were investigated. Additionally, the controlled release behavior of EB microspheres was compared with that of conventional EB emulsifiable concentrate (EC). Spherical-shaped microspheres were obtained with an EE reaching 90.63 ± 1.90%, and introducing an external aqueous phase into the system can significantly enhance the EE of microspheres by over 30%. FTIR, DSC, and XRD analyses indicate that the preparation process of PLA microspheres was mainly physical encapsulation and had no chemical effect on EB. Notably, the EB microspheres displayed more potent control efficacy compared to commercial formulation EB EC against . The corrected mortality for the EB microspheres reached 90.00 ± 5.77% after 21 days of application, whereas the corrected mortality for the EB EC was only 19.23 ± 6.66% after 14 days of application. Our study demonstrates that EB-encapsulated PLA microspheres have strong potential as environmentally friendly control release EB formulations.

Background: Injectable platelet-rich fibrin (i-PRF) has the capacity to release great amounts of several growth factors, as well as to stimulate increased fibroblast migration and the expression of collagen, transforming growth factor β, and platelet-derived growth factor. Consequently, i-PRF can be used as a bioactive agent to promote periodontal tissue regeneration.

Objective: We aim to compare and evaluate the effectiveness of i-PRF in periodontal tissue regeneration.

This study synthesizes a novel three-dimensional (3D) porous coordination polymer (CP), {[Co(L)₀.₅(H₂O)]·NMP·H₂O} (1), via a solvothermal method in a mixed solvent of water and NMP (1-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone), reacting Co(II) ions with H₄L (1,4-bis(5,6-carboxybenzimidazolylmethyl)benzene). The CP exhibits unique fluorescence properties, emitting at 420 nm under UV light excitation at 350 nm, and serves as a carrier for Mesalazine (MSZ) in therapeutic applications.

Psoriasis, a chronic autoimmune and non-communicable skin disease, affects 2-3% of the global population, creating a significant financial burden on healthcare systems worldwide. Treatment approaches are categorized based on disease severity, with first-line therapy focusing on topical treatments and second-line therapy encompassing phototherapy, systemic therapy, and biological therapy. Transdermal drug delivery methods present a promising alternative by enhancing drug absorption through the skin, potentially improving therapeutic outcomes while minimizing systemic adverse effects.

Effect of a GnRH injection on kisspeptin levels in girls with suspected precocious puberty: a randomized-controlled pilot study.

J Pediatr Endocrinol Metab

January 2025

Department of Paediatrics, School of Medical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health, Örebro University, Örebro, Sweden.

Objectives: Kisspeptin plays a major role in the onset of puberty by stimulating the gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) neurons. The aim of this study was to investigate whether GnRH inhibits kisspeptin secretion via a negative feedback mechanism and potential associations between kisspeptin levels and other hormones of importance for pubertal onset.

Methods: Thirteen girls with suspected central precocious puberty underwent a GnRH stimulation test twice in a randomized, placebo-controlled manner.
