The application of standardized criteria to evaluate treatment efficacy is crucial for guiding therapeutic decisions, assessing prognosis, and interpreting outcomes in treating multiple myeloma (MM). The unique characteristics of MM make its response assessment more complex compared with other malignancies. It primarily depends on serum and urine M protein levels, combined with the number of plasma cells in the bone marrow and comprehensive imaging findings. Recently, the emergence of novel therapeutics has led to significant improvements in MM outcomes. Minimal residual disease (MRD) detection determines deeper remission states. The clinical significance of MRD monitoring is now widely recognized. The Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO) MM Expert Committee and the Hematologic Oncology Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association (CACA) have gathered relevant experts to develop the guidelines based on these advancements, aiming to provide a comprehensive reference for response assessment in MM.

The antipsychotic medication haloperidol has been used for many years in avian medicine as a pharmacologic therapy for refractory feather destructive behavior in pet parrots. However, despite its common use, there are no published studies evaluating its efficacy and adverse effects in psittacine birds. The goal of this study was to report the signalment, clinical presentation, dosing regimen, response to therapy, and adverse effects of companion psittacine birds prescribed oral haloperidol therapy at a single veterinary referral hospital.

A historical perspective of more than one hundred years of influenza surveillance in New York State demonstrates the progression from anecdotes and case counts to next-generation sequencing and electronic database management, greatly improving pandemic preparedness and response. Here, we determined if influenza virologic surveillance at the New York State public health laboratory (NYS PHL) tests sufficient specimen numbers within preferred confidence limits to assess situational awareness and detect novel viruses that pose a pandemic risk. To this end, we analyzed retrospective electronic data on laboratory test results for the influenza seasons 1997-1998 to 2021-2022 according to sample sizes recommended in the Influenza Virologic Surveillance Right Size Roadmap issued by the Association of Public Health Laboratories and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
