Introduction: Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) is a metabolic disorder marked by Q10 hyperglycemia that can negatively affect both mothers and newborns. The increasing prevalence of GDM and the limitations associated with the standard diagnostic test highlight the urgent need for early screening strategies that promote timely interventions.
Methods: This study aims to investigate the metabolic profile associated with GDM through an untargeted metabolomic analysis using mass spectrometry (MS)- based omics. Serum samples were collected from 40 pregnant women at weeks 24-28 of gestation based on the 2-h 75-g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT); 50% were diagnosed with GDM (n = 20), and the remaining were considered a control group.
Results And Discussion: The results showed distinct metabolic differences between women with GDM and those without, with 222 significantly dysregulated metabolites, 120 up- and 102 downregulated in GDM compared to the control group. Key metabolic pathways, such as tryptophan, inositol phosphate, phenylalanine, and histidine metabolism, were notably dysregulated in GDM. The study also found that specific metabolites, like N-Acetylproline and Serylmethionine, with area under the curve (AUC) of 0.978 and 0.968, respectively, showed high accuracy in distinguishing between GDM and non-GDM women. This study would enhance our understanding of metabolic alterations in GDM and could contribute to early prediction and management strategies.

This study aims to investigate the association between exposure to toxic indoor chemicals, specifically polyhexamethylene guanidine (PHMG) and oligo(2-(2-ethoxy) ethoxyethyl guanidinium) chloride (PGH), used in humidifier disinfectants, and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). We confirmed pregnancy from 2003 to 2017 and identified GDM by linking a cohort of claimants who reported exposure to PHMG/PGH with National Health Insurance Service data. The GDM incidence was calculated, and PHMG/PGH exposure characteristics-exposure status, the humidifier's distance/location, and exposure duration/hours-were investigated.

: We aimed to review the effect of lifestyle interventions in women with a history of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) based on the participants and intervention characteristics. : We systematically searched seven databases for RCTs of lifestyle interventions published up to 24 July 2024. We included 30 studies that reported the incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) or body weight.

Women diagnosed with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) face a significantly heightened risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) later in life. Breastfeeding (BF) has been identified as a potential strategy to delay or prevent T2DM; however, women with GDM often encounter barriers in initiating and maintaining adequate BF practices compared to those with uncomplicated pregnancies. This paradox prompts an exploration into the causes of these BF challenges and considers the possibility of reverse causation: Does prolonged and intensive BF mitigate the risk of subsequent glucose dysregulation and T2DM? Alternatively, do women with compromised insulin secretion and sensitivity, who are predisposed to T2DM, struggle to sustain intensive BF practices? This narrative review aims to explore the interplay between GDM, BF, and T2DM development by examining the different factors that present BF challenges among women with GDM.

Background/objectives: The prevalence of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is increasing, and GDM poses health risks for both mothers and newborns. This study investigated the association between GDM and two biomarkers, osteopontin (OPN) and betatrophin (ANGPTL8).
Methods: This study involved face-to-face interviews with 165 participants-81 in the GDM group and 84 in the control group-to gather maternal-newborn data.

The potential of blue light (BL) and sous-vide (S-V) as a novel approach for food preservation was investigated via measurements of the total phenolic content (TPC), antioxidative activity, color, and their antibacterial effect on in two versions of laboratory-prepared kale pesto, with and without the addition of turmeric. The TPC ranged from 85 to 208 mg/100 g GAE d.m.
