Background And Aim: The relationship between socio-economic inequalities (SEIs) and early life malnutrition with muscle health remains unclear. This study aims to examine the effects of SEIs and early life exposure to famine on relative hand grip strength (rHGS).
Methods And Results: We analyzed data of 37,008 individuals from the China National Health Survey.

Many patients with cancer approaching the end of life (EOL) continue to receive treatments that are unlikely to provide meaningful clinical benefit, potentially causing more harm than good. This is called overtreatment at the EOL. Overtreatment harms patients by causing side-effects, increasing health care costs, delaying important discussions about and preparation for EOL care, and occasionally accelerating death.

Low-temperature stress is a limiting factor affecting the safe overwintering and stable production of apples. Galactinol, produced by galactinol synthase (GolS), is an important plant cryoprotectant. This study showed for the first time that exogenous spraying of apple saplings with 100 mg mL galactinol could effectively alleviate the damage from low-temperature stress.

Arsenic pollution and its associated health risks have raised widespread concern. Under anaerobic conditions, arsenic mobility and toxicity increase when arsenate [As(V)] is reduced to arsenite [As(III)] by microbes through the cytoplasmic and dissimilatory pathways. However, the relative importance of these two pathways in the environment remains unclear, restricting our ability to effectively predict and regulate the environmental behavior of arsenic.
