Soils in the Black Soil Zone of northeast China are experiencing pollution from polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) as the region undergoes urbanization. In this study, 119 topsoil samples were collected from the black soil agricultural area in Jilin Province, China to investigate the characteristics and spatial distribution of 16 PAHs. The total concentration of ∑16 PAHs in the agricultural soils ranged from 2.

Thalassemia is an inherited hematological disorder characterized by a decrease in the synthesis of or absence of one or more globin chains. Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is a major cause of acute viral hepatitis, constituting a major global health burden and emerging as a critical public health concern. HEV infection is mainly transmitted via the fecal-oral route; however, parenteral transmission through blood components has been reported in both developing and developed countries.

Mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) comprises a group of inherited metabolic diseases. Each MPS type is caused by a deficiency in the activity of one kind of enzymes involved in glycosaminoglycan (GAG) degradation, resulting from the presence of pathogenic variant(s) of the corresponding gene. All types/subtypes of MPS, which are classified on the basis of all kinds of defective enzymes and accumulated GAG(s), are severe diseases.

Generation and Assessment of Soybean ( (L.) Merr.) Hybrids for High-Efficiency -Mediated Transformation.

Life (Basel)

December 2024

Research Institute of Nyíregyháza, Institutes for Agricultural Research and Educational Farm (IAREF), University of Debrecen, P.O. Box 12, 4400 Nyíregyháza, Hungary.

The -mediated technique is widely employed for soybean transformation, but the efficiency of this method is still relatively modest, in which multiple factors are involved. Numerous chemical and physiological cues from host plants are needed for attraction and subsequent T-DNA integration into the plant genome. Susceptible genotypes may permit this attachment and integration, and the agronomically superior genotypes with susceptibility to would play an important role in increasing transformation efficiency.

Late wilt disease caused by the fungal pathogen represents a major threat to maize cultivation in the Mediterranean region. Developing resistant hybrids and high-yielding offers a cost-effective and environmentally sustainable solution to mitigate yield losses. Therefore, this study evaluated genetic variation, combining abilities, and inheritance patterns in newly developed twenty-seven maize hybrids for grain yield and resistance to late wilt disease under artificial inoculation across two growing seasons.
