A five-year-old female came with a history of frequent rubbing of the right eye and noticed prolonged elevation of her head since birth, informed by her mother. On ocular examination, the best corrected visual acuity shown in the right eye was 1/60, and the left eye was 6/6, with proptosis in both eyes. Fundus examination showed both eyes having pale discs. General assessment of the patient shows a high, peaked forehead and a shortened, pointed head shape suggestive of oxycephaly. Immediate neuroimaging revealed premature closure of skull bones with narrowing of orbit apex leading to bilateral compressive optic neuropathy, which is suggestive of craniosynostosis. Frontal advancement surgery was done for oxycephaly to relieve compression to the optic nerve. Post-surgery vision improved to 6/24 in the right eye. Recent advancements in surgical techniques and a collaborative team-based approach have significantly enhanced the safety and outcomes of this disease.

Background: By simultaneously staining multiple immunomarkers on a single tissue section, multiplexed immunohistochemistry (mIHC) enhances the amount of information that can be observed in a single tissue section and thus can be a powerful tool to visualise cellular interactions directly in the tumour microenvironment. Performing mIHC remains technically and practically challenging, and this technique has many limitations if not properly validated. However, with proper validation, heterogeneity between histopathological images can be avoided.

Background: Ischemic stroke is a prevalent and life-threatening cerebrovascular disease that is challenging to treat and associated with a poor prognosis. Astragaloside IV (AS-IV), a primary bioactive component of Astragali radix, has demonstrated neuroprotective benefits in previous studies. This study aimed to explore the mechanisms through which AS-IV may treat cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury (CIRI).

Background: Although a few studies have examined the correlation between low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and mortality, no study has explored these associations in hypertensive populations. This study aims to investigate the relationship between low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and cardiovascular and all-cause mortality in adults with hypertension.
Methods: Hypertensive participants aged ≥18 years from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 1999-2018 with blood lipid testing data and complete follow-up data until 31 December 2019 were enrolled in the analysis.
Over the past two decades, rapid advancements in magnetic resonance technology have significantly enhanced the imaging resolution of functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI), far surpassing its initial capabilities. Beyond mapping brain functional architecture at unprecedented scales, high-spatial-resolution acquisitions have also inspired and enabled several novel analytical strategies that can potentially improve the sensitivity and neuronal specificity of fMRI. With small voxels, one can sample from different levels of the vascular hierarchy within the cerebral cortex and resolve the temporal progression of hemodynamic changes from parenchymal to pial vessels.

These asymmetries decrease with decreasing eccentricity from the periphery to the center of gaze, suggesting that they may be absent in the 1-deg foveola, the retinal region used to explore scenes at high-resolution. Using high-precision eyetracking and gaze-contingent display, allowing for accurate control over the stimulated foveolar location despite the continuous eye motion at fixation, we investigated fine visual discrimination at different isoeccentric locations across the foveola and parafovea.
