Formulating a consistent standard for ecosystem service value (ESV) estimation and incorporating it into government decision-making is an important way to achieve balanced ecological-economic development. Taking the ecologically vulnerable areas in Northwest China as an example, this paper uses the value transfer method to estimate the ESV of cropland, forest, grassland, waters, and unused land; analyzes the spatio-temporal characteristics of the increment of ESV (△ESV) and ecological-economic harmony (EEH) index in each city; as well as identifies their key influential factors. The results suggest that value transfer is a feasible approach to developing a consistent standard for ESV estimation. The ecological-economic system is limited by the natural environment, economic growth, local government, population, and the development of agriculture and livestock. The main factors that affect unit ESV, total ESV, and EEH are connected but vary across space. The findings can provide a reference for estimating ESV across regions, formulating policies for land management and ecological protection, and promoting sustainable development.

Climate change has significantly altered fish population dynamics and marine ecosystems worldwide, resulting in multiple ecological, economic and social risks for sustainable fisheries. As a hotspot of global warming, China is anticipated to face with extensive climate-driven changes in marine fisheries and ecosystems, but a clear and adaptative management strategy has not been established. In this study, we assessed the climate adaptiveness of current fisheries management and alternative strategies with diverse management priorities.

Exploring the relationship between urban, agricultural, and ecological functions is crucial for optimizing the territorial spatial patterns and achieving balanced territorial spatial development. Based on the classification system of "urban-agricultural-ecological" territorial spatial planning and with the help of multi-source data, including land use, population density, nighttime light, road network, precipitation, and county statistical data from 2010 to 2020, we constructed an evaluation index system of territorial space functions at the grid scale in the Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone. The coupling coordination levels among territorial space functions was measured using the coupling coordination degree model and spatial autocorrelation analysis.

The Ebinur Lake Basin is an ecologically sensitive area in an arid region. Investigating its land use and land cover (LULC) change and assessing and predicting its ecosystem service value (ESV) are of great importance for the stability of the basin's socioeconomic development and sustainable development of its ecological environment. Based on LULC data from 1990, 2000, 2010, and 2020, we assessed the ESV of the Ebinur Lake Basin and coupled the grey multi-objective optimization model with the patch generation land use simulation model to predict ESV changes in 2035 under four scenarios: business-as-usual (BAU) development, rapid economic development (RED), ecological protection (ELP), and ecological-economic balance (EEB).

The measurement of carbon and carbon-related ecosystem services (CCESs) has garnered considerable global attention, primarily due to dual‑carbon goals, which are crucial for the rational allocating of ecosystem service (ES) resources and the enhancement of terrestrial carbon sinks. This study developed a novel research framework on CCESs to quantitatively measure carbon storage (CS), food production (FS), habitat quality (HQ), soil conservation (SC), and water yield (WY), and examined the spatiotemporal patterns of the supply-demand and trade-off/synergy processes related to CCESs in the Huaihe River Ecological Economic Belt (HREEB). The findings are as follows: (1) From 2000 to 2020, the supply-demand of the CCESs generally increased, except for carbon storage and food demand.
