Permanent preservation of genetic resources may be indispensable for the future of humanity. This requires liquid nitrogen, as is the case for preserving animal sperm. However, this technique is expensive and poses a risk of irrecoverable sample loss on non-replenishment of liquid nitrogen in case of natural disasters. In this study, we demonstrate that lyophilization may be used as a reliable method for long-term preservation of mouse sperm at room temperature. Sperm from four mouse strains were freeze-dried and stored in a non-temperature controlled room for 5-6 years. Although the ability of the stored sperm to activate oocytes had diminished slightly, healthy offspring were obtained by artificially activating the oocytes after sperm injection. Moreover, the birth rate did not decrease even after ≤ 6 years of storage. Furthermore, owing to its low cost, safety, and ease of storage at any location, we believe that this method could be a major mode of preserving mammalian genetic resources in the future.

Introduction: Lorecivivint (LOR), a CDC-like kinase/dual-specificity tyrosine kinase (CLK/DYRK) inhibitor thought to modulate inflammatory and Wnt pathways, is being developed as a potential intra-articular knee osteoarthritis (OA) treatment. The objective of this trial was to evaluate long-term safety of LOR within an observational extension of two phase 2 trials.
Methods: This 60-month, observational extension study (NCT02951026) of a 12-month phase 2a trial (NCT02536833) and 6-month phase 2b trial (NCT03122860) was administratively closed after 36 months as data inferences became limited.

Purpose: Understanding the incidence of rare diseases is important in establishing a proper public health care system and setting target diseases in medical research. Herein, we report the 12-year cumulative incidence of seven rare ocular diseases of the retina in South Korea.
Methods: We analysed clinical records of 1,126,250 South Korean population during 2006~2019.

Background: Obesity, characterized by excessive adipose tissue, is associated with chronic low-grade inflammation and elevated inflammatory markers such as high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP). This inflammation is linked to obesity-associated medical problems, including cardiovascular diseases. One anastomosis gastric bypass (OAGB) has emerged as an effective metabolic and bariatric surgical procedure to address severe obesity and its associated inflammatory state.

Estimating spatiotemporal maps of greenhouse gases (GHGs) is important for understanding climate change and developing mitigation strategies. However, current methods face challenges, including the coarse resolution of numerical models, and gaps in satellite data, making it essential to improve the spatiotemporal estimation of GHGs. This study aims to develop an advanced technique to produce high-fidelity (1 km) maps of CO and CH over the Arabian Peninsula, a highly vulnerable region to climate change.

Background: Although anthracycline-related cardiotoxicity is widely studied, only a limited number of echocardiographic studies have assessed cardiac function in breast cancer survivors (BCSs) beyond ten years from anthracycline treatment, and the knowledge of long-term cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) in this population is scarce. This study aimed to compare CRF assessed as peak oxygen uptake (V̇O), cardiac morphology and function, and cardiovascular (CV) risk factors between long-term BCSs treated with anthracyclines and controls with no history of cancer.
Methods: The CAUSE (Cardiovascular Survivors Exercise) trial included 140 BCSs recruited through the Cancer Registry of Norway, who were diagnosed with breast cancer stage II to III between 2008 and 2012 and had received treatment with epirubicin, and 69 similarly aged activity level-matched controls.
