Constitutional indocyanine green (ICG) excretion defect (CIED) is a rare clinical condition characterized by markedly delayed ICG disappearance with other normal liver function tests. Here, we report a case of CIED in which laparoscopic anatomical liver resection was successfully performed using ICG fluorescence staining. A 64-year-old man with a 4-cm tumor located in the liver segment 5 was referred to our hospital. His ICG retention rate at 15 min was 70%, but other liver function tests including Tc-galactosyl human serum albumin scintigraphy were normal. We then planned laparoscopic segmentectomy under the diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma and suspected CIED. Laparoscopic hepatectomy was started after confirming a histologically normal liver. After clamping the Glissonean pedicle of segment 5, ICG was injected and the demarcation line was identified. Liver dissection was performed along the demarcation line and the operation was completed. The patient was discharged on postoperative day 10 without any complications.

Spigelian hernia and cryptorchidism syndrome in children is increasingly reported in the literature. A variety of phenotypes have been reported, so diagnostic approaches and operative techniques remain poorly defined. The case of an infant male who presented with a left spigelian hernia and ipsilateral cryptorchidism who was initially misdiagnosed with an ectopic inguinal testis is presented.

Introduction: The coexistence of gallbladder (LSG) and adenomyomatosis (ADM) is extremely uncommon presenting a novel clinical dilemma that has not been previously documented. LSG refers to a anomaly where the gallbladder is situated to the left of the round ligament deviating from its usual position. This anomaly is rare, with reported occurrences ranging between 0.

Introduction: The cyst of the canal of Nuck is a rare cause of inguino-labial swelling in adult women, arising from an obliteration failure of the processus vaginalis during embryological development. Its rarity often leads to misdiagnosis and improper treatment. This article highlights its diagnosis and surgical management.

Background: Fluorescence-guided lymphadenectomy (FLND) using indocyanine green (ICG) has emerged as a promising technique to enhance the accuracy of lymphadenectomy in rectal cancer surgery. Effective lymphadenectomy is crucial for improving prognosis in patients with advanced rectal cancer, but it remains technically challenging and controversial.

Methods: This prospective nonrandomized controlled study was conducted involving 129 patients underwent laparoscopic surgery, and 64 patients assisted by FLND.

Article Synopsis
  • The study compares total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH) and laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy (LSCH) during minimally invasive sacrocolpopexy for treating uterovaginal prolapse.
  • Results showed no significant difference in overall recurrence of prolapse between the two methods, but TLH had lower odds of recurrence in multivariable analysis.
  • TLH had a higher proportion of mesh exposures with lightweight mesh, but this finding wasn't significant after adjusting for other factors.
