Covalent organic frameworks (COFs), crystalline and porous conjugated structures, are of great interest for sustainable energy applications. Organic building blocks in COFs with suitable electronic properties can feature strong optical absorption, whereas the extended crystalline network can establish a band structure enabling long-range coherent transport. This peculiar combination of both molecular and solid-state materials properties makes COFs an interesting platform to study and ultimately utilize photoexcited charge carrier diffusion. Herein, we investigated the charge carrier diffusion in a two-dimensional COF thin film generated through condensation of the building blocks benzodithiophene-dialdehyde (BDT) and ,,','-tetra(4-aminophenyl)benzene-1,4-diamine (W). We visualized the spatiotemporal evolution of photogenerated excited states in the 2D WBDT COF thin film using remote-detected time-resolved PL measurements (RDTR PL). Combined with optical pump terahertz probe (OPTP) studies, we identified two diffusive species dominating the process at different time scales. Initially, short-lived free charge carriers diffuse almost temperature-independently before relaxing into bound states at a rate of 0.7 ps. Supported by theoretical simulations, these long-lived bound states were identified as excitons. We directly accessed the lateral exciton diffusion within the oriented and crystalline film, revealing remarkably high diffusion coefficients of up to 4 cm s (200 K) and diffusion lengths of several hundreds of nanometers and across grain boundaries. Temperature-dependent exciton transport analysis showed contributions from both incoherent hopping and coherent band-like transport. In the transport model developed based on these findings, we discuss the complex impact of order and disorder on charge carrier diffusion within the WBDT COF thin film.

The ever-growing interest in MXenes has been driven by their distinct electrical, thermal, mechanical, and optical properties. In this context, further revealing their physicochemical attributes remains the key frontier of MXene materials. Herein, we report the anisotropic localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) features in TiCT MXene as well as site-selective photocatalysis enabled by the photophysical anisotropy.

Oxygen vacancy-rich defective tungsten oxide (WO) modified by Prussian blue for efficient photocatalytic carbon dioxide conversion and tetracycline degradation.

The coupling of carbon dioxide (CO) with epoxides to produce cyclic carbonates is a desirable decarbonization approach, but its commercial applicability is still restricted by the costly catalysts required, as well as the need for high temperature and high pressure. Herein, oxygen vacancy-rich defective tungsten oxide (WO) rich in Lewis acid sites was modified by Prussian blue (PB), and the obtained composite reaches up to 94 % styrene carbonate yield (171 mmol gh) at ambient temperature and pressure, exhibiting outstanding advantages in the photocatalytic CO cycloaddition reaction compared with currently reported photocatalysts. It is found that the introduction of PB with photothermal properties significantly enhances the capability of WO to absorb and activate CO and epoxide, along with its light utilization ability.

Microplastics (MPs) in nature inevitably undergo various aging processes and may exhibit varied interfacial interactions with the coexisted contaminants. Here several discarded disposable polyethylene and polypropylene plastic packaging materials were collected and employed as the raw materials of MPs, and the effects of stimulated UV irradiation and microbial colonization on the variations of surface physicochemical characteristics, including biofilm content, oxygen-containing functional groups, oxygen/carbon ratio, hydrophilicity and surface charge properties were explored. Simultaneously, the adsorption behavior of each MPs on the representative cationic dye crystal violet (CV), as well as the influences of salinity and pH of CV solution, was investigated.

For moiré bilayer TMD superlattices, full-configuration-interaction (FCI) calculations are presented that take into account both the intra-moiré-quantum-dot (MQD) charge-carrier Coulombic interactions, as well as the crystal-field effect from the surrounding moiré pockets (inter-moiré-QD interactions). The effective computational embedding strategy introduced here allows for an FCI methodogy that enables the complete interpretation of the counterintuitive experimental observations reported recently in the context of moiré TMD superlattices at integer fillings ν=2 and 4. Two novel states of matter are reported: (i) a genuinely quantum-mechanical supercrystal of sliding Wigner molecules (WMs) for unstrained moiré TMD materials (when the crystal field is commensurate with the trilobal symmetry of the confining potential in each embedded MQD) and (ii) a supercrystal of pinned Wigner molecules when the crystal field is incommensurate with the trilobal symmetry or straining of the whole material is involved.

Background: The WHO states that antivenom is the only safe and effective treatment to neutralize snake venom. Snakebite antivenom typically involves horse hyperimmunization with crude venom and Freund's adjuvant.

Methods: In the current work, we analyzed the ascorbyl palmitate liquid crystal structure with snake protein or PLA2, the carrier charge capacity, and we evaluated the immune response induced by the enzyme P9a(Cdt-PLA2) formulated in a nanostructure using CpG-ODN, determining the titer of IgG antibodies.
