Heterotrimeric G proteins act as molecular switches in signal transduction in response to stimuli in all eukaryotes. However, what specifies G protein signalling in plants and how the mechanism evolved and diverged remain unsolved. Here, we found that the recently evolved tails of three Gγ subunits, Dense and erect panicle 1 (DEP1), G protein gamma subunit 2 of type C (GGC2), and Grain size 3 (GS3), determine their distinct functions and specify grain size in rice (Oryza sativa L.

Background: While artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing healthcare, inaccurate or incomplete information from pre-trained large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT poses significant risks to patient safety. Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) offers a promising solution by leveraging curated knowledge bases to enhance accuracy and reliability, especially in high-demand specialties like plastic surgery.
Objectives: This study evaluates the performance of RAG-enabled AI models in addressing postoperative rhinoplasty questions, aiming to assess their safety and identify necessary improvements for effective implementation into clinical care.

Tin disulfide (SnS), a layered material analogous to two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), demonstrates excellent photoresponse capabilities. However, the relatively large dark current in multilayer SnS photodetectors limits their potential in high-performance photodetection. To address this issue, we introduce lead (Pb)-based halide perovskites as dark current suppression layers for the SnS photodetector.

Genetic and environmental factors shape an individual's susceptibility to autoimmunity. To identify genetic variations regulating effector T cell functions, we used a forward genetics screen of inbred mouse strains and uncovered genomic loci linked to cytokine expression. Among the candidate genes, we characterized a mitochondrial inner membrane protein, TMEM11, as an important determinant of Th1 responses.
