Phosphate (PO) and ammonium (NH), two major components of the phosphorus and nitrogen cycles, respectively, play vital roles in aquatic ecosystems. Very few studies have reported methods for the simultaneous determination of PO and NH in seawater. Additionally, when ammonium molybdate solution was employed as a chromogenic reagent for the simultaneous determination of both PO and NH in a single analysis system, there was a possibility of cross-contamination. In this study, a spectrophotometric method for the simultaneous determination of PO and NH in seawater was established. To prevent interference from ammonium molybdate, sodium molybdate was used in the phosphomolybdenum blue reaction, yielding satisfactory results. The indophenol blue method was used for the determination of NH. The reagent concentrations for the determination of PO and NH were optimized, and the effect of salinity on the determination was investigated. The effect of salinity can be effectively ignored by setting the residence time for the reaction. The developed method was validated, with limit of detection observed to be 0.02 and 0.06 μM for PO and NH, respectively. The working range of the method was observed to be 15 μM for PO and 12 μM for NH, with the relative standard deviations (1 μM, n = 20) of 2.5 % and 1.9 %. The results obtained using the proposed method were in agreement with the reference method. Furthermore, the proposed method was successfully applied for the on-site monitoring of diurnal variation of PO and NH in surface seawater.

The study assessed the effectiveness and safety of nerve block combined with low-dose general anaesthesia in elderly hip arthroplasty patients, conducted by a meta-analysis of RCTs. Six trials involving 403 patients were identified from databases such as Cochrane, MEDLINE, and PubMed. The results demonstrated a statistically significant difference in pain scores at postoperative 12hours (95% CI, -2.

Bacterial blight of cotton (BBC) caused by Xanthomonas citri pv. malvacearum (Xcm) is an important and destructive disease affecting cotton plants. Transcription activator-like effectors (TALEs) released by the pathogen regulate cotton resistance to the susceptibility.

However, the association between these two concepts is under-examined. Here, we conducted a nationwide cross-sectional study to investigate the association between clinical knowledge and PCO among resident physicians in Japan.

Background: Childhood obesity is associated with obesity in adulthood, but the consistency between the geographic distributions of obesity among children and adults in China is not fully understood. We aimed to examine the consistency of the geographic distributions of overweight and obesity between adults and children in China.
Methods: This was a cross-sectional study including 11,940 adults.

Background: Temperature is a key determinant of ectotherms distribution and growth. During the Eriocheir sinensis breeding process, it was observed that crabs in high latitudes and altitude areas with low temperatures undergo diapause, they would overwinter and continue to grow into three-year-old individuals, whose final body size is significantly larger than the normal two-year-old crabs. The hepatopancreas is responsible for maintaining the nutritional balance and energy required for the crab survival.
