We present the R package MIIVefa, designed to implement the MIIV-EFA algorithm. This algorithm explores and identifies the underlying factor structure within a set of variables. The resulting model is not a typical exploratory factor analysis (EFA) model because some loadings are fixed to zero and it allows users to include hypothesized correlated errors such as might occur with longitudinal data. As such, it resembles a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) model. But, unlike CFA, the MIIV-EFA algorithm determines the number of factors and the items that load on these factors directly from the data. We provide both simulation and empirical examples to illustrate the application of MIIVefa and discuss its benefits and limitations.

Neoadjuvant and adjuvant osimertinib in stage IA-IIIA, EGFR-mutant non-small cell lung cancer (NORA).

J Thorac Oncol

December 2024

Division of Medical Oncology, Yonsei Cancer Center, Yonsei University College of Medicine, Seoul, Republic of Korea. Electronic address:

Introduction: Treatment with adjuvant osimertinib for three years is the standard-of-care for resected stage IB-IIIA non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) harboring epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-mutations. The role of neoadjuvant osimertinib in the perioperative setting is yet to be elucidated in the NeoADAURA study (NCT04351555).

Methods: This is a single center, pilot study of patients with clinical stage IA-IIIA NSCLC (AJCC 8th edition) harboring an activating EGFR mutation (Exon 19 deletion, L858R) (NCT04816838).

The minimal group effect, in which people prefer ingroup members to outgroup members even when group membership is trivially constructed, has been studied extensively in psychological science. Despite a large body of literature on this phenomenon, concerns persist regarding previous developmental research populations that are small and lack racial/ethnic diversity. In addition, it remains unclear what role holding membership within and interacting with specific racial/ethnic groups plays in the development of children's group attitudes.

Aim: To evaluate the reliability and validity of the Indonesian version of the EMS (EMS-I).

Method: A cross-sectional design involving 230 older adults in South Tangerang City, Indonesia, was used.

Parent-led cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is an efficient, promising form of therapy that may be well suited for autistic youth with anxiety disorders. A recent clinical trial found that parent-led CBT - in which parents led their child through a guided CBT workbook with varying degrees of therapist support - was efficacious for reducing anxiety and associated functional impairment. While such findings demonstrate promise for future intervention development and dissemination efforts with this population, more work is needed to elucidate clinical factors that impact response to treatment as well as drop-out.
